O'Hare or Walsh (1 Viewer)

Hypothetically, if we got promoted and we were in the position to sign one of them, who would you go for?

It's a tough one, but I think id go for Walsh. Just watched this compilation video with a quote from McFadzean about him... Reminded me about just how good his passing can be!

Unrealistic, but if it was either or, I’d go for O’Hare. They’re both unreal, but I feel O’Hare just has that little bit extra. And he doesn’t stop running

Jesus Christ that highlight video is unreal - the amount of chances he creates at the start of that video which aren't scored is outrageous! Can we try and get this video deleted so Bristol City aren't aware of his ability.....
Haha! Those were my thoughts exactly

seriously impressive, makes you realise he is a big reason for our success... have to think we would struggle to buy him even if we did go up unfortunately.

Walsh everyday. O’Hare is obviously an outrageously talented player but he doesn’t even start every game. Walsh is the sort of player you can build a team around.

Walsh for me, love a player who sits a bit deeper but can fire balls all over the park, O'Hare is the more exciting to watch with his skills and directness. Would be amazing if we could do a deal for both in the summer.

Walsh is one of the main reasons we are where we are. I said it before that although I do also like Allen, him getting injured at the start of the season was our biggest blessing.

Some of our finishing well lack off is embarrassing

I'd go for Walsh. He's so comfortable on the ball even when being pressured - which is huge when we're playing possession football. I think Walsh will be much, much harder to replace than O'Hare.

Said in the 87 cup or promotion thread how I think Glenn Hoddle is the best English midfielder I've ever saw. The way Walsh plays reminds me of him.
Hoddle used to ping 30/40 yard balls into people all the time and Walsh does the same. He's skilful as well. Whether he'll go on to play at the highest level remains to be seen but he was comfortable against Blues in the cup so I've no doubt he'll go onto a higher level, question is how high?

How must Westbrook feel ( who imo is a really good player) with those to in front of him in the pecking order.
Yeah he must be personally miffed, but hopefully he will understand the greater good is the success of the team. Am glad we have someone like him who we can bring on and, if it happens, it's up to him to do what the mananger instructs him to and eventually make a challenge for that spot.

Of the two, I'd go for O'Hare. Both excellent players, but O'Hare does get the crowd going and I'd imagine the player the other side fear the most, if only by reputation and that head band (which I think he should wear until the end of the season).

Walsh all day long. My kinda player and makes the whole team work. I wonder if another loan might be on if we get promoted such is the gap in that division. You can loan from the same division right?

If we could finish he'd have the best assist rate in the world, I'd take Walsh, but want them both.

Walsh

But we wil get both in the championship plus adam armstrong and david mcgoldrick back and van aanholt will return as left bsck to replace mcallum

IF we go up we’ve got try and get Walsh in. Less obviously brilliant than ohare, whom I’d say we’ve got no chance of getting.

He's got better and better as the season has gone on too. Not better in terms of the things he is capable of but the consistency in which he is playing every game, his decision making in terms of when to knock the ball around at the back has improved and his fitness is incredible too - he's controlling games until the 95th minute.

He's also part of the reason Kelly is perceived to have gone off the boil too. Kelly was playing those long diagonal balls into the wings last season and first half of this but as Walsh has increasingly controlled games, Kelly's game has become a lot simpler and more defensive minded.

100% Walsh.
I really like O'Hare but Walsh is the best midfielder in this division with an incredible potential, can see him easily being a PL player.

Obviously the greedy part of me wants both, but if I were to pick one it would have to be Walsh. O'Hare has the flair, but Walsh pulls the strings and also chips in with goals (some of which are great ones). This pair was a great pickup and hope the recruitment team continues to unearth more gems for us (on a permanent basis hopefully).

Walsh for me, absolutely love O’Hare, his commitment, energy, however I think Walsh has more of an eye for the killer pass, and has become a lot more consistent as the season has gone on.

They compliment each other and since they’ve both started games it’s had a significant impact on our form

The fact neither seem considered good enough for levels above by their clubs is actually alarming

True, though sometimes young players at higher levels take a slower path. I’m 100% certain that if both were our players and we didn’t go up both would be gone to Championship clubs in the summer. But probably not to clubs at the top of the league.

I get what you are saying, but sometimes this is about style of play and how players fit the system. Walsh may not have been a fit for the midfield system played at Bristol, not that he wasn't a quality player. We've seen it before, Chaplin wasn't the fit for us (although I always though he had something about him) , he's gone elsewhere and done OK. The same with Clarke-Harris and a number of players from our squad over the last few years. Maybe Walsh wasn't happy sitting on the bench, or in the reserves. If so, fair play to him, that compilation video alone should demonstrate what he's got.
