The first two weren’t offside and it was a cast iron penalty. Not seen the third back yet. Was a couple of other decent penalty shouts as well which could do with a second look.

Robins said two were offside

And saying we didn't create is a non argument when you had the ball away 3 times, and missed a couple of sitters too

Your last point is exactly what my biggest concern is though, we miss so many sitters.

Even if the Bakayoko one wasnt offside, Hiwula had the goal gaping from 6 yards and scuffed it.

In my opinion and this is not a knock at Robins but he boobed not starting Godden had he I reckon the game would have been won by half time, golden rule PLAY YOUR BEST PLAYERS especially against inexperienced kids. when he came on his movement created panic every time we attacked, thought basically we played well but needed too many touches, can’t tell with the offsides need to be level like the linesman to know.

You're right, he is deluded. I would believe an anonymous bloke on a forum rather than a professional who has spent 40 years in the game. They should have you and a few others on here giving their incisive view instead. You'd be spot on all the time. No, EVERY time.
Just my opinion.

I'm pissed off that we didn't break down at U23 Bolton team and we should've taken away at least a 1-0 win with those disallowed goals (whether they were disallowed or not). For me we had no ideas in the final third.

We clearly need at least a creative midfielder and another forward.

I though Godden looked good when he come on, hopefully he starts next Sat.

You’re joking, right? We created chances. This “we didn’t create enough to justify 3 points” is just bullshit cliche. We’re shit at finishing. We know that. But if we’d got the 3 points today we’d have deserved them. In fact, we should’ve won. At least one of those offside goals was good. I’m pissed, I want to win, but I’m not going to overreact 2 games in.
This was our best chance this season apart from playing Bury to obtain three points and we failed.

Just heard we had 24 shots today and we’re all screaming we don’t have creativity in fairness I don’t think we are clinical enough a lot of pressure on Godden how did he play today lads ?

He said the Shipley one was debatable.

He said it was marginal but a foot was ahead of the defender he said it was unlucky but not an incorrect decision.

I’ll give you that. I didn’t say otherwise. What I said was we created chances. We’ve put the ball in the back of the net 3 times. At least 1 should’ve counted.

Great - we’ve clearly addressed our goal scoring issues - I’m so reassured

I also didn’t say anything about finishing. Actually, I did, in the previous post. We’re not clinical. Nothing to do with creating chances.

To be fair, u less you have a camera angle that's side on seeing the moment the ball was played and the man, with a slow mo and those attacker/last defender lines theres no way of us telling if the officials got them wrong.

What dint sit right with me re the officials was the assistant had not given it. So clearly did not think it was offside. The ref went over and swayed the discussion. No point in having assistant refs if they are told what to do.

On reflection Not too dispirited, team that started today was not our best, we have Jamie Allen to come in and we have yet to see this Kasteneer bloke, we will get better.
I know Robins has said no more signings but a fleet footed strike partner for Godden would be a priority for me if I was manager.

We don't play with 2 strikers to have a partnership.

What positives are there to be found from being unable to break down a youth team? Do people genuine think we played well today? We lacked any sort of creativity, no one in the side has any composure in front of goal and we didn’t even defend that well.
We broke them down 3 times?

We don't even have a big man to play alongside, Baka isn't it. The young Bolton centre backs must think men's football is a piece of piss

Bakayoko in relative terms has to be the worst signing for some time

Coming round to agreeing with you. Abysmal today.

Poor poor result but goes deeper than that.

We didn't play as well as we could do. Could be for a number of reasons. it was probably difficult for MR to prepare for the game tactically as he had no idea who'd be playing for them or how it'd be best to wear them down (even though it shouldn't have been that difficult to find a weak spot somewhere) and maybe the players didn't prepare properly because of the uncertainty and they were playing a young team but they were flat for much of the game. Midfield or strikers didn't dominate that game like they should've done.

Baka and Hiwula weren't anywhere near as threatening as they should be against such inexperienced defenders. Godden took a decent chance of Jobello (probably didn't get a shout) and missed a decent chance but it's early days yet.

Which brings me on to MR. At least he brought on the two forwards quite early. But then as usual steadfastly refused to chance the system despite it not suiting the subs. Why bring Max on to not play down the middle? Especially when he's still coming back from an ACL? If you weren't going to change the system you may as well have kept Hiwula on. When we made the change I expected up to go Godden and Max up top, but we didn't.

I'd have also expected us to put far more pressure on their defence and keeper but we didn't. We had loads of chances apparently but there were few and far between that truly made them sweat.

I should say well done for the effort of the Bolton lads, but in reality they went out there under the instruction to kick lumps out of us. If anything the one positive is we haven't picked up injuries.

This also brings in the main reason we didn't win today - officiating. That ref was clearly giving them extra leeway in their fouls due to their age. An established team could've probably expected twice as many fouls given against them and probably a red card or two.

Then there were the three disallowed goals and a number of penalty decisions not given. If we'd have been the other team in light blue who've got VAR at their disposal that game would've been 4-0 even from our poor performance, not taking into account their heads may well have drop and the adrenalin that sustained them to full time wouldn't have been there.

At worst that officiating needs looking into just due to the poor standard but it was so bad and so one-sided you almost feel it needs to be looked at from a betting irregularities side. The ref seemed to be looking for any reason whatsoever to not give things our way and let them get away with some atrocious tackling/fouling.

I really can’t disagree with you. Apart from his two goals at Charlton and a 10min spell last week (when he was almost unplayable) what has he done that merits leading the line?

Oh just remembered...he had a decent game at Peterborough. But really this is not good enough.
