Westbrooke motm, who in their right mind could pick that out absolutely dreadful display from virtually everyone bar Sterling.

Hard to judge any player today because was just amazed how Chaplin keeps started and not getting dragged instead of hiwula but for me it was

Burge 5
Mason 4
Davis 3
Hyam 5
Sterling 6
Thomas 6
Westbrooke 6
Kelly 5
Bright 4
Hiwula 5
Chaplin 1

Bakayoko and Clarke Harris HAVE to start for me next game by no means am I saying robins needs to go because he's a great manager but time to change his thinking now can't keep playing the unlucky card and saying we're doing the right thing it's a results business I'm afraid

Burge - 3 - Didn’t make a save until the 92nd minute
Sterling - 7 - only player who looked like creating anything
Hyam - 3 - what the fuck was he doing for the second
Davies - 4 - eh
Mason - 3 - poor going forward, poor at the back
Thomas - 4 - did nothing
Kelly - 5 - at least keeps hold of the ball
Westbrooke - 5 - alright
Hiwula - 3 - at least he gets in the positions to have a shot
Enobakhare - 5 - looked reasonably lively, tracked back well
Chaplin - 0 - bin him off. Awful doesn’t do that performance justice. Only positive is that he only missed one sitter this week but that’s because he refused to shoot for the most part. Can’t hold the ball up, can’t pass, can’t beat a man. Utterly, utterly useless.

Hiwula 5? 4 easy chances, 3 glaring misses, 2 slips over and a tantrum at getting subbed off! hahahaha

Burge 4 absolutely no confidence since Walsall
Sterling 7 mom
Davies 5
Hyam 4 what was he doing with the second goal.
Mason 5
Thomas 5
Kelly 6 but plays too deep
Westbrook 6 good first half seemed lost 2nd half
Bright 6 shouldn’t have been taken off.
Hiwula 4 missed so many chances.
Chaplin 2 I just don’t see what he offers. Misses sitters every week, can’t control the ball, gets knocked off it, is slow is useless on his right foot. Other than he can take a free kick that’s it.
Baka 4 didn’t offer anything
JCH 4 gave something more up front but failed with two headers to hit the target.
Robins 2 Has no idea how to change to another tactic. Last 30 minutes he had a chance to put 2 up front but persists playing one then wonders why we don’t score.

Far too low in my opinion.

Has everyone forgot how dominant we were in that first half and how many chances we created? Those above are surely the 2nd half ratings. First half we played well (apart from our finishing) and clearly should have had the lead.

Burge 4 - Rooted to his line and flapped at one and his kicking is still poor

Sterling 6.5 - Excellent in that first half, but missing in the second.

Davies 5.5 - Had nothing to do in that first half, but som eo his 'passing' if that's what you can call, it was poor.

Hyam 4.5 - Played well until being totally outmuscled for that second goal. That cost us greatly, because I honestly believe we were still well in the match until that second one went in. Has to be marked down at least a point or 2 for the goal. I like him a lot, but he has two major weaknesses. 1. He isn't very quick. 2. He isn't physically very strong. Cost us today.

Mason 5 - Didn't think he offered much at all today and I remain unconvinced by him.

Thomas 5.5 - Lots of good stuff, but frustrating once again and his shooting continues to be poor.

Kelly 6 - Played well first half. Looked lost in the second.

Westbrook 6 - Again, looked lively in that first half, but should have scored. Disappeared in the second half.

Enobakhare 5.5. - Another one who started quite brightly but then shrunk in the second half.

Hiwula 4 - Hardly in the game, but then had two great chances and hit them both straight at the keeper.

Chaplin 4.5 - Should have scored. Busy, but little else from him.

Baka 5 - Offered nothing.
JCH 5 - Put himself about, but should have scored.

Sterling did well.
Bright did well in the first half.
Westbrook had good movement and passing.

Defence were shocking when under pressure (same as last week). Chaplin was a joke, Hiwula may as well just not bother going out some games if he is shoved out wide. Burge is welcome to go and find a new club, if it wasn't that we had Addai has our only backup I'd let him go now.

Burge 6 hardly had anything to do
Sterling 8 motm
Hyam 6 at fsult for second goal
Davies 6 as above but not so much
Mason 4 stop fouling people man
Kelly 6
Westbrooke 7 unlucky not to score first half went awol 2nd Cubs we stopped passing
Thomas 6 quiet game for him
Hiwula 5 not in it at all first half had to great chances second and a pen shout, still looks liver than Chaplin
Bright e 6 couple of good passes first half tired and poor second
Chaplin 4 needs dropping /resting

Why do we wait for winter, shit pitch and then play Chaplin upfront and try loads of tippy tippy football

Not sure how many times this has been pointed out, couldn't be bothered to read the whole thread, but .. Blackpool made a change just before half time that changed the game IMO and Robins seemed to have no answer how to regain the initiative.
Blackpool had 3 shots on goal and scored with 2 of them from 43% of possession, however they came with a game plan, tweaked it successfully during the game, and did a job on us.
The team we put out should have been more than a match for Blackpool, but were out-thought again.

Robins 1 - 1 upfront at home, makes subs 2-0 down and still just keeps 1 upfront. For all of the possession in the first half, we still didn't create enough, dont get enough men in the box, dont make the right decisions and often play 2 narrow trying to pass it in.

Blackpool weathered the storm first half then came out second half trying harder knowing we couldn't score regardless.

I’m still reeling from waiting 10-15 mins down 2-0 at home and not changing the formation to get straight back in it. Absolutely insane

Game of two half’s on a awful pitch which we need to factor in to the way we play at times over a season.

A reasonable first half, good movement from a few, composure on the ball moving it around working openings as Blackpool pressed but the usual lack of killer edge.
Second half same frailties creep back in, set pieces again are our down fall with a lack of physical presence and height in the side will forever be our undoing especially without a commanding keeper.

As soon as Blackpool scored you could see the belief fall away from the young side and players stop making the movement and decisions they did in the first half.

The side is crying out for a couple of more senior players who know the level and the average height of the squad needs to rise by 6 inches to compete against these direct sides.

Keep saying this every week. We just don't measure up physically or height wise.

Keep saying this every week. We just don't measure up physically or height wise.

It has to be addressed this summer, we’re beaten to easily at set pieces and have no threat at our own. We’re a good few inches shorter than most sides in the league and it’s undoing us too much.

We’ve no option to mixing it up to go to battle in the physical games or outlet to go direct on days like today where the pitch is against you or you cannot get through/round them when chasing a game.

Thought Kelly and Westbrooke used the ball well today with the back 4 to create openings as Blackpool pressed us in the first half allowing us to get in between the lines and the side but that option goes when sides sit deeper and don’t press us when they get the upper hand.

That’s when we need the natural target man i constantly harper on about.

Some of the marks given to Chaplin are pretty silly. I’m not that convinced by him but at least he’s willing - the same for clarke Harris - you can’t accuse these two of hiding even if they are missing chances.

Hiwula on the other hand I do not get at all.

Agree

Both Chaplin and JCH cannot be criticised for effort. Hiwula just disappears.

Hiwula looked better when he was played centrally for a couple of games. Playing on the left really doesn't work for him.

He’s terrible full stop he can’t play with his back to goal he has really poor work rate and just seems to do random runs around the defence where he has no chance of getting the ball

Given his stats at this level he’s been very poor

Been a big disappointment for me. At least I think Chaplin is one for the future, but Hiwula is now 24.

That’s a fair point Grendel (never thought I’d hear myself say that !) Yes, Chaplin missed the header (looked like he was on his heels) and yes he comes too deep...but that’s usually because he is trying to get involved and make things happen....even if it doesn’t always help.

Westbrooke MotM for me. Looked very tidy, always hunting the ball and wanting to dictate. I’m a massive Bayliss fan but the way Westbrooke was getting involved is worth him watching

Decent first half, should’ve been leading, v poor second (defending was shocking for both goals). The players appear to know that as soon as a goal goes in they are going to struggle due to lack of confidence in final third. Some of our play, on a dreadful pitch, has deserved better lately

Echo your thoughts on Westbrooke who was very good I thought too, for his second full game in the league he was confident, showed for a lot making himself available and was positive distributing the ball. Positional play off the ball seem disciplined too.

A lot to offer going forwards for us.
