So it’s Abu Ogogo. Could be the Doyle replacement we need.

It depends if this was on the pitch or not if he could be a good replacement

Ogogo, who is of Nigerian descent, was born in Epsom, Surrey and was raised in nearby Tadworth.[4][37] He attended The Beacon School in Banstead, Surrey.[38] In May 2010, he was sentenced to eight month's imprisonment, suspended for eighteen months and ordered to perform 120 hours of unpaid community service, after pleading guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm in an assault in Croydon in August 2008.[39]

I have heard from a reliable source that our assault on Shrewsbury isn't necessarily over. An offer is on the table for another player but he does have offers elsewhere so its not guarenteed.

Jon Nolan is their main man but he’s being linked with the Championship for £1million, Ogogo is their captain who’s out of contract but he’s heading to Charlton.

CB Nsiala is an absolute man mountain in the Reda Johnson mold but minus the injuries but I guess that is our strongest position at present.

Do you have a name of a player?

I think people need to stop getting carried away. By no means do I think we’ll go down, but mid table next year would be a result and something to build on. Teams like Sunderland, Barnsley, Portsmouth, Charlton etc will have much higher budgets than us and it would be foolish to expect us to finish above them. Don’t get me wrong Robins has done an amazing job, but it would be a miracle if we went up again next season. Would love to be proven wrong though.
Teams like Sunderland?

That is an interesting one. Players leaving but a couple they can't get rid of on big money. A new Scottish manager that might or might not know what he is doing at this level in England. New owners that might or might not do best for the club. Then they have to put a new squad together when they don't know what players they will be left with. The only momentum they have is two successive relegations. What will the team spirit be like? The players won't know each other. And will they be ready to fight every game? Lots of sides will see them as the game of the season. And many if not most of their supporters are deluded although they do have many with their feet on the ground.

I can see their supporters losing the plot if they have a slow start.

I see our chances down to who we keep. No sign of anyone leaving yet. But those that have joined look good additions. And we have the momentum.

Really becoming another of the stance of wishing to distance myself from the Premier.

Hoping it goes it alone and the Championship is where the true competition is in the future.

Not sure we would enjoy the Premier much at all to be honest.

Ogogo would be a wow signing but as someone else has said above Charlton is rumoured to be his next destination. Brown is a decent enough player, a bit of pace and as an ex winger he's capable of better crossing than your usual left backs.

Any source for the Charlton link. I've looked but can't find suggestion of that anywhere.

We have to be hsp

its not about budgets, it’s about managers having the knack and getting players to play take John Coleman at Accrington as an example. I am hopeful our own Mark Robins comes in that bracket too
It's also about being lucky with injuries. Accrington had 7 players that started over 40 games last season and at one point they went 9 matches without making a substitution! Most teams have a decent best 11, I don't think Accrington could have coped with losing key players like we did last season.

The Shrewsbury fans seem disappointed which is always a good sign... I'd personally bin off Haynes now as Stokes is not only a better player but can cover centre back at a push too.

Southampton fans were disappointed about Turnbull. Just a reminder.

My next target would be central midfield, a player to cover for (and be successor to) Doyle / otherwise cover for Kelly.

I know we've got Maycock, but from what I have seen of him he looks a long way off the standard he needs to get to.

Despite the views of the experts on here, I think the play off games demonstrated the absolute importance of Kelly and Doyle. It'll be even more important next season when you'd imagine teams try and play through midfield a bit more.

Agree completely, that DM position is key and hard to find. I’d probably spend the most there, apart from maybe striker if the right guy comes up. You want three players at least for that position and as you say the other are either more attacking or unknown and potentially not ready.

Long been a believer that DM is the most important position on the pitch, in our system even more so.
