You know what it is Stevo, its dawning on us all now that there is more than a 50/50 chance we wil be still be in this division.

Yes we have been in and around play offs with brief flirts in auto zone. But im afraid every time webuild up some sort of momentum. Theres a game around the corner just knocks the stuffing out of you.

Too many times.

Its plain not good enough. We have arguably a top 3 squad EASY. To not make play offs would be a complete and utter disaster. That last result was a complete and utter disaster and theres no way of trying to look at any positives.

Play offs is bare minimum and is what we all dreada complete unknown entity for us.

Could you really stomach another season in this league? Thats a frightening thought.

I have been very positive all season. I really believed we would get that third place.

Looking to next season in league two.

Just want one signing! And thats a top top quality goalkeeper. A new goalkeeper and we win the league next year!

Still afyer everything ive said we still havent blown this season yet.but god we are making it so hard ourselves.

McNulty s form is very worrying for me.

If he clicks again then we have a chance. At the moment he is just scuffing everything!

I think we need to put this season into perspective.

We’ve signed, what? 15 odd players? We've totally rebuilt our squad from the bottom up. How many players have remained in the squad from last season? Willis, Burge, Haynes/Stokes and now Reid? I think Robins has signed the right kind of players to get the job done - most of our signings have been very good. Not many teams get promoted back to L1 at the first time of asking; Donny were the first to do it in quite some time. Bradford, Luton, Plymouth and Pompey all had to spend a few seasons before they got it right. The squad that got us relegated was simply not equipped to take us back up. At least now we've got our 'core' players under contract now.

We have been particularly unlucky in regards to injuries, season ending injuries to Andreu and Jones. Jones was on fire this season, and I think he's the missing piece in the team at the minute - we simply haven't managed to fill that RM spot since his injury. I honestly think he's the difference between playoffs and automatics. The only silver lining is that we'll probably keep him for a while now because of such a bad injury.

I think if we make JCH's loan a permanent, Jones and Andreu coming back -- it'll be a completely different side stylistically. I think we'd roughly need about 4-5 players; a striker, 1-2 wingers, a left back and probably a CM. Then automatics have to be minimum requirement (assuming we're in L2).

We should just be top 4, stop making excuses for not fielding a team good enough, the transfer window is to fix these problems, they were not adequately addressed.

If we had Jones for 30-35 games this season, I’d be more concerned like you. Same with Andreu, those two in the team changes so much. We probably did have a Top 3 team, but atm, we’re missing Willis, Andreu and Jones. If you want to analyse the situation we’re in properly, you cannot just gloss over that. Every team get injuries. But, it’s fair to say we’ve been particularly unlucky with injuries.

You say we need a ‘top top’ quality GK, but are current one has just been named in ge team of the year. Just how good a GK do you think we can sign? By every metric I’m aware of, Burge is consistently rated as one of the league’s best. Over 30-odd games he’s made 3-4 mistakes...

Only a Coventry’s City fan could be ‘concerned’ about a strikers’ form when he’s on 18 league goals. If you do basic maths, even the top goal scorer of the league averages a goal every 2 games. In fact, strikers barely score more than a third of total games because most of them score braces and hat-tricks.

The problem is our lack of goals from midfield and defence (from set pieces). Our defence has 1 (ONE) goal between 8+ players over 40 games! Meanwhile, Doyle, Bayliss, Shipley and Vincenti all have 3 goals each. With the exception of Bayliss, all of them have played far more games than Jones, yet no one was overtook him. There’s been 21 games without him now...

Full strength, playoffs is absolutely the minimum requirement (not a sackable offence this season because we’re in transition). But, this team is not full strength and hasn’t been for a significant amount of games.

Agree with you there on alot of points.

Adam armstrong had 18/19 league goals by January February 2016, his goals dried up his form dipped(yes i know thats not only reason). And so did ours in direct correlation.

My point is you want your key players on top of their form at the business end of the season. Thats my concern. And is it wrong to not want our players to improve.

I hope other players step up. Biamou and JCH, McNulty is a good player. But we need hime big time back on top form. Creating goals out of nothing at times.

We need our big players to stand up and be counted now we need 4 wins to be certain of playoffs.

because whatevers happened before is history.

I’m sitting here seeing the season panning out how I thought so I’m not so upset/angry/disappointed so far which the range of feelings are on here.

Autos was never nailed on to me and I don’t see we’ve a right to be there. With a “fully fit” squad yes but that’s a thing of dreams now. We’re fighting for a spot we fit, that’s 4th to 10th unfortunately.

I really do think it would be a set back if we did get rid of Robins if he failed to get us promoted at the first attempt.

I’ll say one thing, when TM failed when we was sat there n the play off we was all hopeful of a repeat the following season under TM.

Why not next season with Robin’s? There are more positives to take from this season than the ill fated faded promotion push that season.

As for McNulty he’s a typical L2/L1 striker, exciting and frustrating. Has ability for sure but never always connects sweetly with the ball that a top end L1 championship striker does.

Hence why he’s here.

Chin up. Plenty to play for

I love how people like yourself simply gloss over the fact that our best player has had a season ending injury 19 games into the season. Lincoln’s manager called him ‘the best player in the division’, and I don’t think he’s too far off.

At full strength, I think autos is a reasonable expectation. If we miss them by 6-7pts, I think over 27 games without Jones, he’d make that up. In 19 games, he was involved in 11 of our goals (6 assists, 5 goals). Then factor in Andreu, a midfielder who has consistently scored about 10 goals a season in his career. With the lack of goals we have in midfield, we really could do with those two players.

You argument is premised on our ‘failure’ to replace them adequately in January. A window where prices are inflated, free agents are severely lacking in match fitness so you’re only really left with young loan players. I feel like we signed the right kind of players in, but they haven’t paid off as of yet. Also, we’ve signed 15 players so, as you imagine, the budget was more or less used up. To demonstrate this, the JCH deal was structured in a way that it won’t come under this year’s budget (credit to posters in here, wingy and another name I’ve forgotten). We’re not Man City with an endless pool of resources, we have to work to a budget.

Armstrong was stuck on 18-19 for about a month or two. McNulty scored a hat trick 2 games ago. He’s still scoring roughly 1 every 3 games — which is perfectly fine.

His 18 goals in 36 appearances equates to a goal every 2 games. Scoring a goal every 162 minutes, more than Eisa (165m), and equal to Billy Kee (162). Only Collins (152m) and Hylton (161m) score more goals per minutes played.

Without a doubt, McNulty is a top 5 striker in the division.

if you can’t get your team up for a must win home match against another, yes another lower league team
, then you’re not wanted here.
No top seven finish or you’re out son!!

You have to be on a wind up, or crack, possibly.

First proper hammering of the season, first defeat in what, 6 games ish (memory has gone) and you're calling for his head again.

This isn't Football fackin' manager, mate. And again, a prime example of a reluctance to even acknowledge the progress MR has made with this team.

We'll make the play offs, keep calm and keep the faith. PUSB

January window is shit at this level....you are gambling on untested loans or hoping some oldie has a few games left in them.

Budget has been taken up with injuries to several key players, Jones and Andreu would have made a huge difference if we had had them for even half a season.

It’s not for sure either way. It’s certainly a silver lining of his injury!

Leeds were in for him, so I think even if we sold him, there was a chance we’d get him back on loan. Or failing that, we’d free up resources or at least have a bit (not a lot) of any transfer fee (I think we’d have held out for 1.5-2m for him) to play around with.

Him being injured is the worst of both worlds, his wages still make up a part of the budget, so we still have work around that transfer-wise. But, whilst he’s sidelined with such a bad injury, we don’t have the benefit of playing him.

If we don't get to the playoffs I feel he has to go considering how shit this league has been this year. I know we had our most creative players out for the season but with the squad we have, we should have got into the playoffs easily, rather than the almighty struggle we might make of it. Some of his tactics have been bewildering this season
I did say many months ago that I felt in was fate we would go up through the playoffs, another fantastic day out at Wembley, but I am fearing the worst.
I am sticking with the hope my dream/vision still comes true. Stick with it lads and lassies it's still on

There is no excuse , the injuries and all that should have been covered , he has the time to develop .

I have not seen any effective personal tactics from this guy

Robins is a failed manager who is ruining our club . That’s my opinion and it won’t change. As soon as the playoffs are out of sight you will all turncoat.

Isn’t that stating the obvious? Playoffs is a minimum this season for me so while we have a chance then MR is still the man. If we blow it then he may not be. I am getting worried that we will slip out of contention
