Ticketing System (1 Viewer)

Does anybody know what the issue is with this at the minute?

Why is everything only limited to 1 terminal at the store?

Is the system managed by somebody? Is it licensed so they have to pay per computer it is on or do they own it?

The server looks to be hosted on a Virgin Media Connection, is it sat in an office somewhere? That might explain why it is slow if the connection is pants!

There would be loads of cheap ways to go about getting an emergency backup system running for when there are queues.

A few things that can be done:

  1. If the server is in an office somewhere, get it into a proper data centre with a proper internet connection ASAP! That would probably help with the issues when the server kept crashing when lots of people wanted to buy tickets.
  2. Get a couple of laptops that when the queue is big you can put up a temporary table just outside the store to help get through the queues quicker! You can get wifi now, you can get chip and pin machines on wifi as well so they can moved to the Ricoh on matchday etc.
  3. Build a cinema style terminal where somebody can walk up, enter their details, pick their seat and pay on their card and it prints their tickets out. Yes it might cost a couple of grand but it wouldn't need to be staffed.
  4. Have somebody in the queue with a tablet taking the details, so when the person gets to the front it is literally to enter their card and put in the pin and be handed their tickets.

People shouldn't have to wait 2 or 3 hours to buy a ticket unless it is a very extreme circumstance. Not because there are 15 people in front of them.

I'd love to know what actually causes it and why it can't be addressed, as I bet there is an easy way to fix it! (faster connections, server upgrades etc).

The store is primarily a retail outlet, and not intended as the clubs main ticket outlet and thus isn't set up to handle large numbers. The club have been telling everyone to either go to the Butts ticket office or buy online.

What were the queues like at Butts park arena today?

If it was something mobile, then if it is a field or Tescos and they have a decent number of people wanting to pay tickets they should find a way to help them out. Even if it is just taking their details and giving them a call back to do it over the phone and send the tickets free delivery so they don't have to queue.

I could have their server in a datacentre with a 2 gigabit internet connection within a couple of hours for them!

They'd have to care first. The product on the pitch papering over a lot of the cracks but I'd rather have it that way than good off and watching shite!

What utter shite set up they have Butt's has one printer and the server there was down today.
They really need to get their shit together this cluster fuck has gone on for far to long.
They are supposed to make it easy to get a ticket.
We tried to get tickets for Saturday today had to go from the Butts to Tescos to go back to the Butts.

Self service machines would be perfect one in the club shop and one in the town centre in Debenhams.

Exactly, the easier they make it the more will sell.

I did just buy mine online and paid 90p for delivery, but if it was a huge game the site would be down!

It isn't the staff's fault in the shop,I bet it gives them nightmares.

It's the same system as at the ricoh and it was never slow then

It's little things that make the difference as well, if there's 25 people queuing for hours they are going to be annoyed.

Go to Tesco and buy some disposable cups, buy a couple of packs of biscuits. Make everybody in the queue a cup of tea!

What would that cost, tenner at the most?

Still have not got the disabled wheelchair ticket for my mate in his season ticket seat.
So far ...

- He tried on the phone last week for over an hour with no luck.
- Finally took the option to leave a message but not phoned back
- Both of us went to the match on Saturday but no tickets on sale at Ricoh
- I told him not to worry as I will get it on line but found out in Casino you can't get disabled tickets on line.
- I'd made the promise so went down Tescos this morning but not prepared to wait 2 hours.
- Texted Waggott for options and complaint. Told its a system issue that they were working on.
- Booked mine online taking only a few minutes.
- Phoned up myself at lunchtime but gave up and left a message to phone back. No one phoned back.
- Tweeted CCFC to explain and got a response this evening to get back in touch on Wednesday.
- Hopefully his wheelchair space is still available.

At what point do I give up ?

Can you ask him what the exact issue is with it?

They could get a call answering service to take people's details for pence a call, then just get somebody to allocate an hour a day to call them back, print the tickets and put them in the post.

There are so many services that answer the phone for you, all they would do is take details for somebody to call back.

They would only pay when needed then, if the employee can't answer it gets sent to them. The caller never knows.

The message is taken, ccfc get an email saying Joe blogs wants to buy a ticket, here's his number and customer number.

Can you print the tickets at home? I don't know as I have a season ticket
I mentioned this a couple of months ago when I took in an Oxford match. Book and print at home and an old boy on the gate had a handheld bar code reader. Simple!

Go to e-ticketting. I'll happily show my phone at the turn style. Or print at home tickets. Just needs a QR code for verification.

You could even have a vending machine filled with tickets for different blocks. Repurpose an old snack machine.

A new, more flexible system needs to be next on Mowbray's shopping list. Can't cost more than Joe Cole for a month and would almost make the fans as happy.

When there are longish queues could they not print off a block of tickets and walk down the aisle taking cash for them you get no choice of seats just the next one off the pile.

Yes online can be easy but no good for last minute buying.
Or if you have to collect from the Ricoh just before the match.
It is easy for me as I pass the Ricoh every day on the way to work, but they have to think of the thousands of fans who are not local, Some come a fair distance and only just get to the ground on time for kick off.

We need to get the smart cards back.
Charge £5 for CCFC membership smart card and just top up with tickets as bought be it a season ticket or a occasional ticket.
Paper tickets will still be needed but the process of getting them will not be a bottleneck.

The problem with this is that the majority of people queuing are doing so for a specific reason that means they are not in a position to accept... otherwise they would surely pay the 90pence for delivery or just pay on the gate.... eg someone wants to get extra seats next to their ST... someone wants disabled spaces and so on.

Sod that might end up with a ticket next to Grendel or torch

i have been saying this for ages and wanted it mentioned in the minutes of the last SCG meeting.
people like yourself want to help and lots of other fans are willing to assist the club in other ways. Why does the club not ask us it will save money and time?
They have no choice but to do things on a shoestring budget yet some people would volenteer for free.
Simple things like extra hands in the shop and answering the phones, you have the skills to help as do many others.
