I pulled him up about the 10k on Saturday, he claimed it was because the World Cu semi was on the telly.

They were showing that at the Ricoh as well and giving away free beer.

Edit: Just had a look, Wasps game was 2pm, World Cup was 4pm so no clash.

Quick question. When there was mention of SISU wanted the stadium unencumbered there was uproar on here and it was said to be impossible.

So how have Wasps managed to ignore the existing contracts?

For a start the hotel lease has changed. Also they have signed 3 F&B deals so what's happened to Compass and the joint venture?

Wait until Grendull hears that you were there Dave. You're going in the naughty book with Italia.

How dare you!!! I wasn't there, can't stand rugby for a start but if I did want to see a match it would be CRFC.

A massive Fan Village is planned in the Jaguar Hall for the Bath game, with an inflatable indoor assault course, an 8 metre indoor climbing wall and interactive rugby games guaranteed to keep kids occupied for hours, while parents can enjoy watching the live screening of the RWC Semi Final on the big screen post-match with a free pint in hand as a small thank you for their support, with all ticket purchasers receiving a free drinks voucher.

I have been offered the free corporate ticket and hotel for the rather dull final, I did have to inform everyone there was a far more important sporting event to go to on Saturday.

Possible that the hotel lease was sold by 1 chain to another

Seems like it was something to do with Wasps:

We are also delighted to announce that Hilton Worldwide have agreed terms for the conversion of the Ricoh Arena Hotel into a DoubleTree by Hilton. The Franchisee agreement will be signed upon finalisation of the refurbishment plan and Hilton Worldwide Board Approval. It is the intention that work will start on the conversion in the second quarter of this year with the new hotel brand launching in early Autumn.

So you turned down the Rugby World Cup Final and a free weekend for your love of Football ?
Got to admire that ............................ if true.

The way I see it, the only solution to make things viable in the long run is for Wasps to trade part ownership in ACL for part ownership in CCFC/Otium. eg sell CCFC access to their revenue streams and "free" rent, in return for running costs and a share in CCFC - which could potentially be worth lots if the club was successful again. Figuring out how any of that would even begin to work is well beyond my scope, but has to be better for both sides than the alternatives.

Sorry but this is outright nonsense. Our club needs to keep every penny it makes from its matchday activities. Sure, I accept that we should contribute to the running costs of the ground like anyone else does, but all of the money we make we should keep. A set-up with Wasps having a stake would simply see the junior partner used as a cash cow by the senior one (them, not us).

The only way we are getting all of this money is if a) Wasps fail and we can snap up ACL 'on the cheap' or b) we negotiate/pay for the access.

I think some were missing the point I was trying to make. I wasn't suggesting CCFC gives anything away. I'm suggesting Wasps give us full revenue streams in return for part ownership in CCFC. CCFC still runs to breakeven as SISU won't invest, but with access to the revenue streams we can hopefully compete if we get to Championship. Then at some point in the future if CCFC is sold (or reaches the promised land) they share in the proceeds. X% of something better than 100% of nothing for SISU...

Now as OSB has pointed out such a deal would be ridiculously difficult so the idea is a non starter!

Can't imagine many football fans would choose to watch two nations they have no affiliation to play in a minor sport over supporting their football club.

You're unreal, that should never happen. We should not be encouraging Wasps to stay and we should not be giving them a share of our football club so they can continue to stay. If we're successful why should they benefit from that?!

I will not let it go and I will not move on!

Hear hear! Good post

It is absurd that a ccfc is advocating ownership of our club by yet another hedge, and not any hedge fund, but one that had moved a sports club 90 miles.

I wonder if they'd be bothered if this hedge fund then decided to move us away or rebrand ccfc?

You might if it included a free weekend away and corporate hospitality including drinking in your seat.

Why is one of its biggest selling features sitting in a seat drinking you can do that at home? Surely the sporting spectacle or bring at a once in a life time event should or is that not included because it is neither.

I know, it's a strange thing to say.

Suddenly loving Rugby means that you get more SISU hating points, FACT. It is ten times more points than ending posts with #SISUOUT and five times more than #NOPM.*

*Yes, there will be lots who have loved Rugby for years. There are also lots who haven't really got a clue, they probably suddenly loved Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Pink too when they were at the Ricoh but had never heard of them before.

It was emphasising that although you don't like the event you are going too, you might still go if it was free weekend including hospitality.
While the 'crap' event was on at least you could have a free drink in your seat..
Which effectively what G was offered.

It's always good when you find another thing to do in life that you can enjoy, be it music or sport !
Must admit I was never into Red Hot Chilli Peppers so bought Stadium Ardcadiam prior to the concert at the Ricoh for 'business research' reasons. :). Loved it.

Not that I believe for a moment that a take over/merger of CCFC will ever happen but boy the suggestion of it and you don't half expose yourself as a frothing idiot.

Why on earth would someone who owns a stadium in Coventry move a football team from Coventry away from Coventry and rebrand? You really are an idiot if you think that is a likely scenario in an even unlikely scenario.

Truth is that if a take over/merger of CCFC from Wasps did ever happen (just like to point out again that i don't believe this will happen for a moment) our future in Coventry will actually the most secure it's been since we sold HR. So way try and say different?

I went and saw the RHCP at the Ricoh and have been a fan since my teenage years (over 20 years) so does this make me more or less of a CCFC super fan?

Do you actually read posts before you reply to them or do you genuinely struggle to understand their meaning?
