John Aloisis has been appointed to the manager's role at Brisbane Roar. Good squad with good board and support staff. They were A League champions two years ago.

The player that could have scored the goals to get us out of the championship if we had kept him.

Strange things happening at Roar atm. After winning league last year, this year was a massive disappointment. Losing players like Berisha and Franjic plus losing Theo to injury for most of the season hurt us badly. Rumours of financial problems with Indonesian owners as well. Sacking Mulvey and appointing Thjysen was a strange one. As for Aloisi, his last coaching Job was at Melbourne Heart who are now known as Melbourne City and owned by Man City. His time there was a complete disaster and he got the sack. Still, the problems at Roar are nothing compared with Sky Blues lol. PUSB

What's the reputation of the A League like? Would a manager leave one of the best Austrialian teams for say a League 2 team?

I have often thought about this. I would say standard wise the A league is probably on a par with the bottom half of the championship. Mike Mulvey who managed Roar to the title last season, had managed Norwich in the past. Ange Postecoglu who managed Roar to 2 titles, now manages the Aus National Side. If someone like Aloisi was to manage in the UK, I would say league 2, but who knows really. There are players at Brisbane Roar who would do well in League 1 with Sky Blues. Brandon Borello, James Donaghy, Hernrique and Broich as well as Michael Theo (ex Norwich). Besart Berisha is the best striker in the A League, I believe he played in uk at one time for Burnley.

I always watch the A-League on BT Sport when I can and he's a pundit on there. Glad he's back in footy.

Always thought he had potential. Was held back by Strachan playing him as a sub and bringing him on for the last 5 or 10 minutes....when he should have been given the last 20-30 minutes when we were chasing games that had gone away from us.

While Michael Theo played for Norwich and was between the sticks when they got demolished 1-7 at home by Colchester, I'm utterly certain Mike Mulvey wasn't ever manager at Carrow Road.

The bA League is growing in stature. Western Sydney Wanderers won the Asian Championship last year with former Crystal Palace player Tony Popovic as manager. It was reported here in Oz that Popovic had been looked by Palace as a good chance of becoming their manager in the PL. Then this year the Wanderers finished 2nd bottom.
