Not quite sure why this is acceptable. Not only here but much wider. If it was with a Pakistani slant, then there would be outrage (and rightly so) but for some strange reason the Chinese stereotype is fair game. I'm not Chinese before you ask, nor a liberal lefty just find it odd.

Exactly my point. Well said.

I think it's because it's an accent so only over sensitive fools would take offence, just like if you were to do a Scottish or American accent there is no harm done!! Hardly racist is it?

Well as the Wigan chairman was recently banned for six games using the term 'chinky' I would say it is racist. I'm not offended btw, I just don't think it's right.

Racism is defined by punishments dished out by the FA now. As if none of these holier than thou types had never used a term like 'chinky'.

You seem to be offended if not why are you bothering to write about it?? The word Chinky hasn't been used on here so why bring that up?

Not at all, simply pointing out a recent and relevant example. We have no doubt (the older ones among us) all used the term and many others equally wrong, which at the time were 'normal'. Times change, language changes and he is bright enough to have known that.

I took my daughter to the Belgrade Panto at Christmas as they had the "Ting Tong Chinaman" style chinese guy, complete with L/R mixup. Was actually shocked it's still allowed.

He said: “The naïvety of the goals we conceded was alarming. They tried hard – as I said to them in the dressing room I couldn’t fault their endeavour and determination – yet we have to cut out those mistakes.

Hmm....
