He has almost done it, trouble is they are mainly players that have extended their loans.

Jones, Nouble, Martin.

Not what you were expecting?

This can't be right, we were told no more signings....

We are going to have to refer to perm and loans in future when questioning our owners and management. I remember when a signing meant on a contract for upto 3 years plus!

I like the way we moan when no one signs then moan at the players who do..

Maybe there would be much less moaning if the majority of the players SP has brought in were good enough for what we need. Or if he played them in their natural position maybe they could show us what they can do.

This sort of thing can't be too hard for the local press to follow up on. You said this on this date, this is whats happened since, can you explain the discrepancy? Will probably be met with a load of BS but even that would be better than silence.

Unless someone comes in for him on Xfer Deadline day, I suspect he will be back. Hasta la vista, baby.

Really depends whether that's 4,more before 2nd Feb or 4 in total? Already signed 3!

You probably find the entire situation completely acceptable. Any news on the big announcement you kept banging on about yet? Didn't think so. Oh that's because Garlick has even confirmed it was complete bullshit. WUM!

I missed that, thank you. Although it could be positioning along the lines of 'If you want him it ain't gunna be for free'.

He said something similar early in his loan spell and then allowed us to extend it, not to mention they've signed another striker since. I don't think he has a future at Sheffield Wednesday in all honesty and it's just that Gray doesn't want to completely shut the door on him as you never know what will happen in football. It's just we're not used to that sort of man management with Pressley telling a different player to fuck off every other week only to bring him back two weeks later saying he has shown a 'fantastic attitude'

Don't you get it? No matter how good the players we get are, Pressley's team formations and tactics will make them look bad.

Ahem, last season?

You mean before the honeymoon was over? With a team he inherited? Including an £8m striker? And even then the defense was shit.

If it looked like the players gave a toss at least some of the games, then there would probably be less moaning about the drivel on the pitch...

No-one moans much about JOB despite him not doing much in a Coventry kit yet because at least he commits himself and tries. More that can be said for some others based on what we see week in week out - but maybe that's partially down to SP too.

I think people have every right to moan. The loss of talent; even during Pressley's time is astonishing. Just looking at goal-scorers, for example

Pressley joined us in 2012-13 following Robin’s departure. Looking at our top 10 scorers in that season, they were as follows:

David McGoldrick, 18 goals (gone)
Carl Baker, 15 (gone)
Leon Clarke, 10 (gone)
Franck Moussa, 6 (gone)
Stephen Elliott, 4 (gone)
Cody McDonald, 4 (gone)
Callum Ball, 3 (gone)
Adam Barton, 3
Cyrus Christie, 3 (gone)
John Fleck, 3

Of the 65 goals between them, we only still have the two players responsible for 6. So, going into the next season; we really only had three scorers – as after these four, the next highest scorer nailed 3. So:

Callum Wilson, 22 goals (gone)
Leon Clarke, 18 (gone)
Franck Moussa, 14 (gone)
Carl Baker, 10 (gone)

Bearing in mind, not only are we losing firepower, we alsolost in Joe Murphy perhaps the best keeper in the league; Christie, etc. etc.........

Yeah - I think people can look at our squad, look at our league position, and yeah - I think they should moan

No money, no scouting system, too many "has beens" on reasonable money still under contract.....simple! Not moaning, just stating facts.....still love my club but struggling to enjoy my saturdays watching/listening to them!

I recall mine and Steve Waggott's conversation on Saturday in which he said "We hope to sign 4 players before the end of the window." I assume that means four more as of now.

Reading that post really hits home, it is throughly depressing reading, but very true.

I guess Madine is one of the hopefuls, that means 3 more hopefuls on top of that. We will probably get a few loans on transfer deadline day.

Sorry old lad. I was reading on another thread about the 'Pressley's the second worst manager of all time after Thorn' line being spouted. Couldn't be bothered to argue with it to be frank.

The mind-set that saw us sell leading-scorer Lukas Jutkiewicz whilst staring down the gun of relegation from the Championship and deal with the consequences, simply hasn't changed. It's only when you look at that list; the talent we've lost, and how it hasn't been replaced - or anything even close - that you realise why we are where we are.

Pressley - the latest scapegoat for some - must look at this and feel like suing the club:

When you compare it with this headline.....

Still; three weeks and the land for the stadium will be purchased. Ahem......

I had sympathy with Thorn, whilst he wasn't good enough we had a relegation squad that year and barely even attempted to replace the players we lost but Pressley is simply under performing.

Now go and create a list of every player Pressley has signed and see how many goals they have scored between them and you will come to the only conclusion possible which is that Pressley isn't a very good manager.

I'm not saying that either Thorn or Pressley are world beaters. But I tell you what everyone in the football world will tell you - keep on selling, or letting go of your best players - will lead to only one place.

And that's - for us - currently a relegation fight not to end in in the fourth, yes fourth, tier of English football

That may be, but when you are analysing Pressleys performance as manager in isolation of everything else its irrelevant, he isn't good enough. Take this hypothetical situation, Pressley is still our manager and we have a new owner, he has bought the Ricoh, he's invested in the first team, academy and anything else you can think of which you would like for a owner to do. With all this, Pressley will still be a rubbish manager because he simply isn't good enough.

Maybe. But in mitigation, the turnover of players is incredible. David McGoldrick, Carl Baker, Leon Clarke, Franck Moussa, Callum Wilson, Joe Murphy, Cyrus Christie, etc all gone since Robin's time - and Pressley only joined in 2013. You can't constantly sell, or lose your best players and - every time - expect to find something just as good, or better. It's impossible.

It's like me telling my Sales Manager that every year he'll lose his best three sales-people from his team, yet expecting he maintain performance. I'd be at tribunal in no time for making his position untenable. What's so significantly different here? Again, hit those two links above; what Waggott says about the Wilson cash, and then Pressley's comment. How can you work like that?

Obviously it isn't an easy job but he should be doing better, there was little the club to stop some of those players leaving. Clarke forced his move through, Mcgoldrick was never ours and had an offer from a better team, Christie, Murphy, Moussa all ran there contracts down. Wilson was frustrating but it was decent money and a good opportunity for him. The only ones that really annoy me our Baker and Adams as they are players we could have and should have kept and to a lesser degree Clarke and Daniels. Clearly its been difficult for him but it doesn't change the fact that he isn't good enough, he isn't going to suddenly become a good manager even if all the right things off the pitch were in place for him.

If your sales manager was anything like Pressley he would have been sacked by now, if he bought in numerous employees and sacked them after only 2 months because they weren't good enough, only to replace them with more who weren't good enough. If he consistently retained one of his worse performing employees because they were mates. If he started sending people without the necessary skills required to close sales for him whilst he left his sales people on the sideline. If he demoralised his team by banishing one every week, only to bring them back several weeks later saying they were fantastic. If he got rid of one of your top sales person and said with the money saved he can bring in 3 good sales people to replace him and they turned out to be crap and through this time the performance was abysmal and rival companies of a similar level and status were performing better.
