I remember all the hype when he came to us in the summer. He was supposed to be saviour, the goal scoring machine, the player to get us promotion. What an absolute waste of wages! What was his goals to games ratio? Why was Pressley allowed to sign him?
I have to admit I was one of those who thought we'd signed a top player at the time, but now, I will never allow myself to get excited about any new signing that comes to this club anymore. It just ain't worth it!

I seem to recall read in something where even SP was indicating that in our situation chances had to be taken on some of these signings. So lets not be too surprised. Like any gamble some will pay dividend most won't though...the bookie always wins!

Totally agree, but shouldn't we be taking gambles with rough-diamond young, keen-to-make-it-in-the-pro-game, enthusiastic (possibly non-league) youngsters (many of whom may fail), where there is a chance of future profit; rather than 30 something players who no doubt command a hefty pay packet? (And due to age can never be sold on?).

Just all seems a bit short-sighted the current transfer tactics. Used to think SW knew what he was doing. Not so sure.

Mind you I think that CCFC's scouting set up now amounts to
a second hand copy of FM2013 so not many surprises here.

at least they haven't messed around with this and had him rotting in the reserves. Onwards and upwards now

Agree with what The Philosopher says about non-league players. I remember a certain Wealdstone player that Bobby Gould brought in many years ago. He went on to be one of the biggest names in football at the time. His name? Stuart Pearce.
Just going on from this, I'm no scout, but there's a player in my local team (Newport IW), who came to the club in the summer from Havant & Waterlooville. He is a striker of amazing capabilities. He scores for fun. I've watched him score from distance & close range, headed goals, overhead "bicycle kick" goals, makes goals for others. He's really strong on challenges. He's fast on runs. He is brilliant to watch. I know this is purely hypothetical, but this is the sort of player I think the club should be looking for. We need a bloody good scout!

The obvious one really, not really given a chance but when he has played, has offered very very little, good decision to free up the wages.

Pressley says that he has no future at the club, so don't rule out him playing again at some stage later this year. I really don't know why he says things like this, it adds no value and can only disenchant a player.

assuming of course someone takes him off our hands. I wonder who would be interested in spending 3k a week on a striker with a 0 goals in 9 record and isn't match fit.

I'd normally suggest with Miller and Tudgay being allowed to leave then SP must be hopeful of keeping Madine but then I remembered Pressley has no idea what he's doing. Probably end up having to play both Miller and Tudgay after Nouble and Madine are gone, should make for great morale when they are back.

Not sure I remember a lot of hype around Tudgay - certainly not as a "saviour"

Massive disappointments he's been! The one player we signed in the summer who I actually looked forward to seeing come to our club. How wrong I could be!!

Me too. I really think that DMc coming in and doing well off the back of a very poor record, made us fans think that anyone can do that.

look we've signed such-in-such.....his record is rubbish......'it's ok, remember what DMC did, mark my words he'll score loads in this league.....'

More to do with the fact that countless strikers of lesser ability than Tudgay score for fun in this league. A better manager gets more out of him and the whole squad for that matter, but everyone already knows this so...

I wish you were our manager, better strategically and tactically than pressley, better at recruitment than pressley, better at player and squad motivation than pressley. Other than the fact that LJCunderscoreCCFC LJCunderscoreCCFC give us a wave is a bit of a mouthful you'd make the perfect appointment.

Ok. My point was that a more competent manager would get the best out of the squad we have (Which is a good one for this division). Sorry if these rather simple comments got under your skin whilst at the same time perplexing your mind. Don't ever be fooled by thinking football at times, isn't a simple game. Pressley makes more problems for himself than the owners do.

I wish. Trouble is, SP probably gets details of this type of player all the time and unless they're from a recognised scout, he more than likely bins the ideas. Anyway, I doubt if this player would want to settle in the Midlands. (I could be wrong though).

The thing is, you do that and people will cry out 'we need experienced players as well'. I don't disagree with what you're saying and Youth should be the key but we do need experience as well.

I would've gambled on Tudgay to be honest. Sometimes it works (Wise, DMc, Clarke), sometimes it doesn't...Tudgay!

It's getting the right balance.

If Miller and Tudgay both leave to League 1 clubs in January they will have scored against us by the time the season's up. A better manager would be getting more from this group and offloading these players is not the answer.

Which means another player on auto-pilot until he leaves, proving to be an even bigger waste of money. Pressley's man management skills again coming to the fore...

I am sure Waggott will do a deal where they can't play against us!

in tudgays defense there has been no attempt by pressley to find a place in the squad for him. he wasnt working upfront but where would the harm of been in trying him in midfield or a holding roll just behind the front 2 would have been worth a try rather then wasting money paying him to play reserve football

Has the footballing brain and nouse to play behind a striker to be fair, not long ago he was raving about him playing well in a U21 game and him training superbly.

Tudgay was a huge gamble and Pressley knew it, Tudgay said himself he was on the verge of quitting, he didn't know if he could regain his appetite for football.

Remember at the time we signed him we had no recognised proven strikers.

Sometimes landing a name like Tudgay may help land another.

I hope Tudgay is honourable and just leaves, but I suspect no one will want him and he will just stay and wind his contract down.
