Fallen out of love after 62 years... (2 Viewers)

For 62 years since my first visit to Highfield Road as a ten year old, Coventry City has been my passion and love. It's like a relationship, a few ups and downs along the way but now, after 3 years or more where I have been kicked in the balls continually by the other half (CCFC/SISU).. love as been driven out. I am no longer prepared to be treated like sh*t. My beloved Sky Blues are no more...the colours have been tainted by the present owners who have no conideration whatsover for me or my loyalty over all those years. To them, they count for nothing.

I am no longer prepared to be kicked in the goolies and hurt time after time by cold hearted money men. I am not their "cash cow" anymore.

I want my love and passion to be returned in equal measures like any relationship. Maybe when (unlikely) another more loving and understanding owner takes over I may fall in love with CCFC again.

While I understand you're pain VOR, to imagine that your'e love has ever been reciprocated is delusional.

Never fell out with my Club because of it's Owners.

Fed up of saying "I support the Manager & the Team" and that's why I went to Northampton.

However I know now who sold CCFC done the river, without a paddle.

Don't play the blame game, work it out for yourself!

On the other hand judging from the posts on here just might be a bias?

LOOK CARFULLY @ OTHER PARTIES INVOLVED.

Ahh we've another "i've been a fan for a thousand years" woe is me thread.
If you're not going anymore, then don't go. Don't know why you feel the need to broadcast it. Attention seeking?

How old are you my old sunshine ? When did you first go to watch CCFC ? What you may not know is that for 58 years I was treated well.

Attention seeking? See RFCs above yours.

I feel similar, it's not now fun. It requires a concerted effort on my part to stay interested. The easiest thing to do would be to walk away and be one of those fans who just checks the scores and turns up when we draw a big team.

Ignore the life long fans giving up at your peril.

Your response is a typical "we don't need fans like you" comment.

If we continue to lose life long fans, we will lose the club. Its something you should be very concerned about.

"I support the Manager & the Team"

To be honest I find that increasingly difficult. With the revolving door of players it's hard to feel any real attachment. I know players have always left but at least we'd get a few years out of them.

Shame you weren't at the Christmas Party today for the JSBs then, VoR. The kids were treated fantastically by the club and the players. The problem is it'll be ignored by you and many others as it doesn't fit in with your "uncaring" image of our football club. OK, you feel disillusioned and you're not going anymore, etc etc, but I'm pleased to say that there is a new generation coming through who I hope will carry on following their club for many years to come.

It's time for a trial separation. There are other equally rewarding hobbies, you could read some good books, take up gardening or fishing. All will be less stressful and a lot cheaper.

Yes he's back nothing of any value to contribute, there is blame on all sides but the Northampton debacle is the one single act that will ultimately have destroyed this club

Or go to watch Wasps. Seems the rest of Coventry is giving it a go.

I know how you feel, my wife doesn't come on her she thinks the posters are tiresome (including me)....her father was a big fan, her grandad was also and in fact played for what was then the reserve team. She has been as season ticket holder herself for many season. The other day we were talking about Coventry City and she just welled up at the situation.

but you have lasted longer than most, our fanbase has been getting tired for years, but the fall off rate has increased since SISU took over. I actually blame the FA, FL and the Modern Player before CCC and Wasps.

The JSB party today made me see things aren't dying and that there are new fans, it is a shame it doesn't get much attention.

Isn't the JSB stuff run by volunteers out of their own pocket (or fundraising) not the club?

Don't get me wrong it's fantastic they do it but it is absolutely correct that we are losing fans. Some may return, some won't. My Dad had been going for 60 years prior to the Sixfields move, now half the time he doesn't even know if we've won or lost until I speak to him. We used to have hour or longer phone calls several times a week about the city, now if I bring it up he doesn't know any of the players and has no interest.

ooking back now it certainly seemed like it because it wasn't complete contempt

I hate to sound cynical but I'm afraid it was just some people more skilled at parting you and you're cash with a smile.

I think from what Sw said it is a mixture. The volunteers did a great job, but the club also contributed to it as well.

Thing is I parted with it with a smile, another thing I had 34 years in the top flight, promotions a cup win, what are the kids of four starting to go now going to get?

A chance to see their heroes in the flesh and not just watching them on tele with zero chance of seeing their team "live".

There's no guarantee of success is there? If i thought i would spend the next 30 years watching my team without any success, would i still go? Yep.

Today my 5 year old wanted to go because it said Crafts, she loves making things. She isnt really that bothered about football but loves Sky Blue Sam.

She is now telling her Mum about John Fleck, Billy Daniels and Jackson. She found it amazing that they were the players she sees on FIFA :) O'Brien gets too many yellow cards on FIFA so she wasn't a big fan of him.

I won't say many positive things about the club these days but everyone involved at the JSB really does need a really big shout out, it's the one thing the club have truly got spot on.

Still need interested parents to take em though and keeping treating the senior fans with the disregard they do and the JSB numbers will soon drop like the rest of our numbers.

Agree, it isn't just the kids it is the OAP's as well. They need to look after ALL fans, but would be a nice gesture to have a few of the old players, some of the current players and something for the OAP's. Who knows they might have loved the bouncy castle and FIFA? Even if it is just a pint with them and a chat.

I know players go into hospitals to see kids, there are loads of care homes in cov, pretty sure a lot in there will be city fans too.

I won't mention she spent the fleetwood game doing spelling on her tablet and was only interested if somebody got fouled or a yellow card. ;)
