Hi all,

Was on my way home from the Fleetwood Game and as always was tuning into BBC Cov + Warwickshire and listening to the lovely input from our fans. A number of them were moaning about us only playing 1 up top? lets face it we have played 4 4 2 a few times this season and have looked absolutely dreadful! we haven't got any box to box midfielders and we haven't got any pace at all in the wide areas. playing 4 4 2 would just have the away teams dominate the ball which is what always happens at the Ricoh anyway. Don't get me wrong i would love to see Jackson and Madine up top i think they would make a very good league 1 strikeforce but until we bring in a centre midfielder who can drive forward with the ball and some genuine pace on the wings then i think Pressley has got it right packing 3 in the middle. Personally i would lineup Fleck and Barton in the middle, Swanson left, O'Brien right and James Maddison (who was outstanding when he came on)in the hole behind Madine.

I don't think maddison could play a full game, but we do need that link between midfield and strikers :( fleck and barton are like defenders.

Tactically for me we are spot on at the moment controlling the play in the middle and keeping it compact, hence the clean sheets lately in the past few games, however until we bring in width to the side and have the option of pacey wingers like all teams have in this division, then we cannot amend the tactics.
We are currently having to play to our strengths and if this means 4.5.1 for now, so be it.

Maddison is not ready for a full match yet, minutes here and their are vitally essential to development, but he must be protected. I certainly would not put the pressure on him and play him week in week out behind Madine, hes just not strong enough, but he certainly could become a very very good footballer with the right nurturing , and would probably suit a more wide role later on, as has the skills to beat a player and can pass / cross with both feet.

Or he will become flecks replacement in the middle once he goes.

Tactically spot on??????

We are terrible to watch, create just about nothing and have so many players looking lost it's embarrassing. Barton and Fleck do exact ally the same thing and play on their centre halfs feet, O'Brien who was mean to be right wing played virtually the whole game in no mans land doing nothing, Swanson looked lost and poor old Madine had absolutely no support.

If our only aim at home against Fleetwood is not to concede then I'm sorry we have problems, the last time we played football as bad as this was under Don Howe. Our best players this weekend and our most attacking were Maddison and Pennington one a right back one a kid who's still not ready to start which at home against Fleetwood s pathetic, tactically spot he's fucking clueless this league is shit and goals put bums on seats.

I don't think the problem is if we play 4-5-1 or 4-4-2, the problem is how we play using either system. 1 or 2 upfront we are not giving them service and everyone behind them is sitting far too deep and allowing the opposition to come onto us and keep us under pressure.

How often when we're defending do we clear our lines only for it to come straight back in as nobody seems capable of taking the ball forward?

Especially at home we need to pressing hard right from the off, get the opposition on the back foot and push our midfield into their half. Then it doesn't' really matter if we have 1 or 2 upfront as you can have attacking midfielders supporting them. Even with 5 across the middle we struggle to get hold of the ball and when we do we seem to have little idea what to do with it and end up going side to side until we lose it.

Tactically spot on with the players we have at our disposal, remember he changed his mind for the numpith time on his formation has he not, had we had pace and natural wide players ( obrien is not a natural wide player) then we would be certainly playing 4.4.2 high pressing football like we did last season, however due to the numerous issues we experienced in the summer thanks to our wonderful owners, we are stuck with having to put do with the players we brought in ( certainly not first second third or fourth choice targets) and adapting to what we have.

This league is not pretty, its not pretty tick for tact football, we tried to outscore many a team last season, but conceded by the bucket full, I remember a west brom side in the championship looked fucking awful under Megson but won majority 1.0.

Barton and fleck have had that drummed into them to protect the back line, we wont score many playing this way your right , but if we can keep the middle compact, then we have far greater chance of winning with this current crop of players at our disposal.

Hopefully January brings new faces and freshens the group, bringing in much needed pace and the option of being a more attacking potent force.

Absolutely agree. The only time we have looked half decent was when we were forced to attack against Peterborough. Football is an entertainment business and if you dont entertain at home gates will keep falling. The defences in this league are mistake prone and if you attack them you have a chance especially in windy conditions like against Fleetwood. We should have been three down before we woke up yesterday. Jimmy Hill used to say how many shots we had on target. We are improving we have about two or three per match now, but how poor is that. Our improved results recently have been achieved against the lesser sides. Fans wont come back with this tyle of football.

Believe me I'm under no illusion of our current standard I 100 % agree we are crap! but for me it's down to the way he sets us up and not down to the players at his disposal. His current system sees to just about nullify any attacking outlet.

Sorry chief the last post probably came across like I was having a go I'm just so pissed of we what I'm seeing. I agree with most of what your saying but Pressley has to take 80% of the blame for what we are seeing on the pitch, let's not forget he keeps harping in about the players he wants in and he helped build this squad with his choices.

What kind of inept egit recruits a squad of players for a season to play a certain way and then changes his mind 1 week before kick off?. Sick of all the fall back excuses about ownership funds etc if he can't do it with what he's assembled then it's his fault.

What planet are you on?!!! I'd lay off the Juice if I were you. We haven't got a clue. We play nice pretty football in the back 4 and to Barton but under pressure we fold and it goes back to the goalie. When we try and play it forward (and that's rare) there was no movement what so ever and half arsed players, it would be hoofed to madine, he'd sprint 20yards, jump up and flick it on to guess who? NOONE! We could have been 3-0 down first half. Second half was better and more direct once he brought pace on. They were there for the taking but yet again, got it tactically wrong again. SP out!!!
