Ha! Trying to readdress the balance with some quick spin? I think that is total crap, unless of course he has a friend in the ticketing office. We weren't offered anything like that.

No spin, just what I was told. May be complete crap as you said, but I was told in good faith by a reliable person (usually)

Maybe RFC??:)

Maybe they just offered that deal to the sixfields ST holders who don't post on message boards....;)

Free? They would need to be much cheaper than that to make me consider going to watch Wasps.
No different when city used to hand them out to local clubs.
When I was assistant at my lads club we got 50 free tickets couldn't give half of them away had to stand outside giving them to people who were trying to buy tickets on the day outside the ground.
Quite funny how people didn't want to take them........
Do I really look that dodgy.:)

It is not surprising really is it. They are going to have to market themselves aggressively if they are going to make a success of this move.

I have to say their PR and interaction with their traditional fan base has been pretty sharp, certainly post deal. They may not have appeased all fans over this move, but they have been successful in getting many on board, at least in the short term.

For an oldie like me it is still Coventry City and Coventry Rugby. But I can for see many young people getting the Wasps bug.

i dont agree with them coming here.

but unfortunately SISU didn't justify their move to Sixfields, they have botched the return (although glad they have and believe they had to come back because people didn't support it). They have also have failed to convince people they are capable of building a new stadium.

So we are a bit of a rudderless ship.

Just for the record, although I felt people shouldn't attend Sixfields I knew people would and never criticised people for doing it. I believe in people's personal choice.

However, I did object to a few like you who try to make out you are some superior fan. In actual fact I see you as a complete embarrassment. Like your post to the Worcester fan, you sad little loser.

I have no support of it and have actively protested against it.
Being able to see why they might appeal to others or what they have to do to make it work doesnt mean you support it.
Your posts become more moronic by the day.

That was condescending, not arrogant.

Besides, there's nothing worse than people with more noise than knowledge. As such, why don't you tell me what the initiative is than Eastwood is making reference to?

The inference that people of Cov & Warks have yet to discover rugby, his words disregard the local rugby sides completely.

It sounds a bit like Rugby is going down the same road as football. It's a product to market to new consumers.

The main reason for my post was to get the expected bite from you. I think I got the try and conversion.

That's not the initiative he's referring to at all. You don't know, do you? Be frank, and admit it. But all you're interested in is smart ( and that's a very relative term) comments and snipes at people who might be able to tell you. But best judge in ignorance and exchange back-slapping 'likes' not knowing the bigger picture of it makes you feel important, eh?

And if getting 'the bite' is more important than getting the facts to build an informed opinion, then that says plenty, my friend

But it is all so wrong.

I have been to rugger games. I live in an area where they prefer rugger by miles. It is an excellent day on the pop. Drink through the game if you like. And most of the rugger lads like a good drink. But Wasps in Coventry? We have our own club that needs support. So as well as taking our football ground they are now trying to take our rugger clubs supporters. Won't be long before they call themselves Coventry Wasps.

I was against our move to Northampton. And I am against their move to Coventry. I understand why it has ended up happening. It doesn't make it right though. Yes it can be a very good day out. But it is a day out that I am not interested in at all.

It is different as they shouldn't be there which is why you were so vocal about SISU handing out tickets in Northampton.

No different when city used to hand them out to local clubs.

Always very wary of those who accuse others of "not knowing the bigger picture", as if they have some sort of unique insight not shared by the rest of us.

You can be as condescending as you like, you can spin the facts this way and that, none of it can deflect from the undeniable truth - that this whole Wasps debacle is an absolute fucking travesty.

I am wary of those who claim to be 'in the know'. I know a number of the Wasps players, I've spoken to Eastwood before and did, alongside representatives of many other rugby clubs attend this Tuesday's meeting - which was probably covered in The Telegraph and met with Eastwood again. I tried to come on here and give a factual update; but got called a c**t. Or got accused of spinning, even when I clearly added the comment 'this is what I heard, this is not my view'. So, I'm not being condescending - except for when others are vile to me (even as above when they admit it's to get a response - why?!?) instead of hearing the facts.

I'm not going to sit here typing, trying to increase awareness - even if I or you don't like it, and be called a c**t. I have better things to do

Is there really any need to speak to people like that I'm pretty sure that falls outside the forum guidelines ? If not it certainly falls outside the common decency to other people guidelines employed by most normal people.

Read his post before calling people strong names like traitor no need for it at all.

I actually think they have got the potential to make a real go of it and Coventry is a great location for them. Surrounding areas such as Leamington,Warwick, Southam, Kenilworth all have good Rugby communities and up to now have only had Leicester and N'hants as their local options. This of course now changes with the rail line being built and effectively a day on the beer watching prem rugby is a five minute train journey away.

As well as the travel arrangements and potential fan base working for the club there is also the potential player base they have been missing out on due to there location. Plenty of players have come out of the area who have ended up at the two main clubs who will now have wasps as a local option, a guy I work with was offered a chance by wasps and turned it down purely on being to far away from his mates.

Wether you want them here or not no one can deny they are marketing the move very well and making a genuine attempt to raise the interest level and get it to take off. I agree with most on here who think the novelty will wear off but wasps are a good team and will offer people the chance of seeing a local team be successful and everyone likes following a winning team.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!

Wasps give free tickets to kids!

Coventry Rugby Club have a policy of anyone under 16 gets in free if accompanied by an adult!!!

I think that is a very good deal, even if they don't publicise it very well.

Desperate for the people of ccfc to live them. Go away wasps we don't care what the mud rakers are doing outside of making the pitch pub league standard.

It's disgusting and wrong. If 'local' people wanted a successful rugby team then they should have backed Coventry. I'll tell you what, Stamford Bridge is worth a fortune in West London on the property market, flog it, why don't we just move them up to the Midlands as well and forget CCFC altogether!?

And the unbelievable London property prices are what have resulted in a Rugby team historically based in Sudbury moving to Coventry, one originally based in Sunbury-on-Thames moving to Reading and another that used to play in Richmond moving to Oxford.

Coventry Wasps? Coventry City Football Club? Manchester United? Leicester Tigers? Aston Villa? Chelsea FC? Northampton Saints?

It's all about money and if this "pilot" works it could mean bad things for rugby union fans and usher in a franchise example for other owners to follow.
