Not seen this mentioned yet, seems Simon Gilbert and the CT have been nominated for the Press Gazette British Journalism Awards.

CT is nominated for campaign of the year for Bring City Home and Simon is nominated for Sports Journalist of the Year. Looks like Simon is the only regional journalist and is up against the likes of David Conn. Not bad for a tea boy!

I'm now trusted with the coffee machine too!

I bet you're still not trusted with biccy distribution though. I bet Les was? I bet he's already got an award for biccy distribution.

If you keep your head down you never know you might reach the dizzy heights of the Coventry Observor too.

Yeah, good luck Simon. Good coverage of a desperate situation. At least you know you've probably got enough future material coming up to keep you in a job for a couple of years!

looks good on your CV just being nominated

if you were to win it......

If you win, look at the Father Ted Christmas special for speech inspiration. The floor is yours to get revenge on those who have fecked you over in the past, with sub-categories for twats and liars.

Good on you.
Funny how all the knockers have stayed away from this thread:thinking about:

Come out Come out where ever you are.

Don't worry if you get beat by David Conn he too has been labelled a tea by some on here, funny I think he is also top class.

Fair play to you, I might not always agree with some of the stuff but it is a great achievement in itself to be nominated.

Even if you don't win it will be a good session ;) good luck

Wouldn't you want people who don't like him to stay away from a thread congratulating him?

No need both sides of the story they knock people all the time, and when they are questioned they stay away.
Should fight for what you believe in right or wrong.
Mind you I am always right:)

If someone doesn't rate him, being nominated for an award doesn't magically create an epiphany.

There is rating someone, and there is slagging them off just because you don't want to hear what they say even if it is the truth.

Indeed. Winning awards did wonders for les Reid on here.

Sorry but I smile every time I go into the centre down the Foleshil Road up to Jubilee Crescent and the Memorial Park just to mention a few I don't care what others think but I love the place.:)
Well done Simon and the telegraph, it makes a nice change for Coventry to have something to smile about.
Just hope you both receive the final accolade.

Well done Simon picked up the mantle and lifted the reporting in a particular field away from a style that was antagonistic towards most of its targeted audience.

I still think Les Reid is a good journalist, he is just very narrow-minded. When he attacked David Conn it was embarrassing.
