Disagree.

They defended for the entire game, but for the last 15 mins sat a lot, lot deeper.

Nevertheless there was space to be exploited all game, which we failed to capitalise on. For me today just reaffirmed that we are only making things harder for ourselves playing 5-3-2. Now I'm signing out as I don't want to miss a second of Steve Claridge analysis on the Football League Show.

Coubily may of came on for Thomas but he didn't play the same role as Thomas I.e holding role in front of the back 3. Fleck dropped back into that role when Thomas went off. So comparing coubily to Thomas isn't like for like because he came on and played where fleck had been playing for the first 70 minutes.

A midfield of Fleck, O'Brien and Coulibaly worries me. Who would do the donkey work? Coulibaly is an option from the bench for sure, but in this system, the system Pressley is playing, Thomas is a better fit.

Crawley were also very, very poor. Coulibably did look fresh and forward thinking when he came on, but Crawley were so, so deep by then. As I say, it was a different game by that stage to when Thomas was on.

We didn't push as far fowards until we were really chasing the game.

Not only do people have to say one of our own players is crap, but they have to resort to poking fun at him too.

Great way to back the players and the team you love isn't it, to make one of your own a target of ridicule.

tbf today it would have probably worked better as Crawley offered nothing.

I think coulibaly is too lightweight for that role over 90 mins, And I wouldn't have Swanson anywhere near the bench let alone the starting line up. I thought mcqoid (touch a bit or miss tbf) naturally dropped into the whole well, and his hold up play much better than jacksons. We are lacking in midfield though, fleck had it plenty of times in the attacking third and in excellent positions and often either chose the wrong option or played a poor pass.

Maybe you're right in which case 5-3-2 will never work, the midfield 3 don't get forward enough and the full backs can't get to the byline to deliver dangerous crosses.

I suggest you get the game tape and watch just Conor Thomas and you would then come up for a score of aaround 6 marks for sure.

Once a knocker always a knocker no matter what Connor did/does the knockers start rating at minus 5 before adding any positivity - always been this way i am afraid with CCFC knockers and always will be.

I didn't go, but from seeing the goals I'm surprised at the relatively high marks some have given the defence. Willis was beaten in the air for both goals and Webster was turned inside out for the second. Lets hope the defence regains its solidity with the return of the skipper.

...terrible goals they were to concede, too! Big ugly hoofs down the middle. You've got to cope with that sort of route one stuff better if you're going to flourish at this level. On the positives, another great finish by Jackson, with great link-up play from McQuoid that suggests a fruitful partnership in the making. The chance for Fleck made me think that we need to find a way to get him into dangerous positions more often.

Only just seen the goals again this morning. As it was just a case of big punts up the field it was hard to identify who was at fault for the goals, but you are right about Willis. He should have made that header for that first goal.

Second goal looks like a collective mess.

It's the same every game if you have been watching, Connor works very hard breaking up the play and getting the ball to Fleck and JOB but he seems to hit a brick wall at 65/70 minutes and he cannot pass the ball for toffees and he loses concentration. In past games SP would persevere with him from which the lad would get sledged off by the crowd and thus becomes the scapegoat

he's made a scapegoat because he works very hard chasing shadows, shows that no level of concentration exists for him as he plays a pass straight out of play, he struggles to pass five yards and does not 'break up play', needs dropping permanently.

When Reda Johnson comes back we need to put hines in midfield replacing thomas this will add the bite i feel the midfield is lacking he's been really steady since he started for us but he is a midfieklder not defender.

He came off in the 77th minute. He's not a scapegoat he is just shit, players can just be shit sometimes, accept it. Why people try to defend him is beyond me, he has been a below average player since he broke into the side during our relegation season. He is very similar to Isaac Osbourne, a young kid coming through the system who is inevitably talentless. The difference being that Ozzy put in more effort, actually used his physical attributes and would now and again have a shot.

He does fade as games wear on, that's for sure.

For anyone to say he can't pass, well .... oh, what's the point. If someone's got a jaundiced view to that degree then there's no point arguing, because I don't think you will ever convince them otherwise.

Maybe they were in the bog when Thomas played those 2 30-40 yard balls from one side of the pitch to the other, directly to the player he was aiming for.

But, yeah, he obviously cannot pass. :facepalm:

Allsop - 6 can't be blamed fit with goal. Had nothing else to do.

Phillips 6 would love to see him for the whole game.

Willis 7 really good bar one mistake

Hines 6 looks a little cumbersome

Webster 6 not a lot to do

Pugh 6 steady Eddie never did the wing back tool as in trying to get to the by line to cross. Never charged at the defenders like Haynes does.

Thomas 6 solid first half lost his way in the second half. Needs his role clearly defined.

Obrien - 6 the strikers need to understand that he wants to play them in. They would not make those runs.

Fleck - 6 better version of Obrien

Jackson - 6 frustrating the one time he ran past the last man he got a goal.
Needs to be making those runs all the time.

Mcqoid 6 lots of potential just can't see where he will fit in.

Coulibaly - 8 can in confident has trick and ran at the opposition. Wanted the ball there was no fear.

Clarke - 7 best I have seen him play. Although he is not a wing back

Formation needs changing so Coulibaly can play.

SP has a big decision to make and for me it would be drop Obrien in order to change the formation. Fleck can do the creative role. Thomas the tackling role. We don't have natural wing backs so it makes sense to change.
