The Club Shop - What it Needs! (1 Viewer)

Just been down to pick up tickets, I wasn't there for long but can see it is going to get busy.

I think it needs:


  • There were 2 people on the tills for buying shirts etc and 1 person doing the tickets, who is the manager of the store to turn round and say to one of them to get on the ticket desk and help out to clear the queue. It is common sense.
  • It needs to have a separate sales and customer services, the sales literally took less than 2 minutes for me to sort and get one for Tuesday. However there were some people in there who wanted to move their season ticket seat or something that took a bit longer. I am no retail specialist but when you go to Argos or Tesco it is always seperate. If the woman selling tickets was to have a bell like they have in Tesco when they need help, one of the 2 who were stood doing nothing at all could have come to help out to get the queue down.
  • It still needs to automated machines where you go in on a touchscreen and order tickets and it prints them, the same as they have in Argos.
  • It needs more kids stuff, I wanted to get a sky blue sam t shirt or something for my daughter but there was nothing at all other than match shirts. There are coats and stuff but nothing fun that a kid would want to wear. When I was a kid I was always decked out in CCFC stuff whether it was a kit or just a random polo shirt with the badge on, there is nothing at all.

They should also ban moany old men from the store, the sort that say "ah" after every sentence 100 times until people agree with it to get them to shut up. ay?

I am not sure who the manager is, there was the fella (Tynan) is it who was lurking about so was fully aware of the situation and that there were 2 people stood doing nothing and 1 stacked. Surely even the staff should have the sense to do it?

I probably wouldn't go in on the way to the game, although the next idea would be.

  • If people have pre ordered and paid for the ticket all that needs to happen is them to be handed to the customer. Have them in a draw by the 2 women stood doing nothing, then there is no queue and people can walk up and say "My name is Dave, I am here to collect a ticket", then can look in the draw (if they get really clever they could put them in alphabetical order) and hand them over.

Yeah, people there for the day who are going to the game who will go in and buy stuff they don't need.

There isn't actually that much to be bought now, just shirts, jackets, training stuff.

Miles away from the CCFC wallpaper and border I had in my bedroom :(

I've checked a couple of times online since our Ricoh return for children's stuff to continue the brainwashing of my daughter...but there's sweet FA for me to buy!

You have to think that by far the busiest day would be matchday. Would be interesting to know the average take on matchday when we were last at the Ricoh with the shop open compared to now. They haven't even got the barrow organised yet have they?

Dont know why but i have always imagined a coventry sports superstore , selling tickets , clothing , retro gear all the other usual malarky , of all the sports teams in coventry .

All your suggestions are spot on Nick. Having only one person selling tickets, especially on a match day, is beyond belief. It was the same last week as well.

In terms of stock to sell, I do think some of the items look good, there's just not enough of it, they don't order in enough of the popular sizes.

This is basic stuff, and the club is losing out on money as a result.

I agree Nick, it is just common sense really.

As for the Sky Blue Sam top for your daughter? Surely that size would just drown her :)

For a club so concerned about pie and beer money, they don't seem too worried about merchandise where the biggest profits can be made? No shop on match day must be losing lots of dosh....

On a slightly different note, why when you go in any sports shop they sell Brum, Villa, Leicester Man U Liverpool Chelsea kits?? Not one city top anywhere in the world other than the Gallacher retail park??? And they wonder why kids go around in other teams strips?

I'd always assumed the other shops had sold out of City stuff, go to any other city or town and you won't find our tops in the shops, all sold out, we are a very popular team.

I get that they've got a lot to deal with and all that but how difficult is it for someone to hire a mobile unit and get it to the Ricoh on matchday. Like you say that don't shut up about lost revenues but seem to make it as difficult as possible for anyone who does want to spend a few quid.

Was it Brody who suggested getting a ticketing system that linked into those paypoint terminals they have all over the place for people to pay bills on. Thought that was a good idea, people would be able to pop round the corner and buy a ticket.
