Pressley looking to strengthen (1 Viewer)

Sky Blues manager Steven Pressley says he still hopes to remain active in the transfer market in the week preceding the start of the 2014/15 League One season.

The City boss says he would like to bring in two more strikers to bolster his forward line and possibly a defender if he decides the recently introduced 3-5-2 formation is a route he will go down.

"What I've said in the past few days and weeks has not changed. I think we still need to bring in a couple of strikers and we'll work towards that and maybe another player on top of that.

"If we decide to adopt the 3-5-2 we may look at bringing in another defender to strengthen our options within that system so we have a couple of considerations to make but I'm hoping we can get at least one in this week if not two."

I would agree with Pressley we do need another option up top James Maddison and George Thomas will be decent players but I am not sure they are ready yet.

Maybe Barton might come back in to the fold, remember we have Billy Daniels and Ivor Lawton as well?

He's been looking since the end of last season so we shouldn't expect any quality to come in 6 days before the start of a new season

But this is when things start to happen... Packs are shuffled, squads are finalised. Exactly when movement is most likely in fact.

Where does Finch play?

Finch again is a CM like Lawton but can adapt at playing at CB. I like both Finch and Lawton, if it came down to getting a new player in or keeping Barton I'd keep Barton, he can do it, we have seen it, his problem is, technically he is brilliant, yet he needs more time on the ball, something he doesn't get in League One..

It is a shame about Barton, clearly a gifted lad, but in which division will he get loads of time on the ball Robo?

Higher up the leagues he will go is where he will find more time, I have heard rumours that Adam Barton has been linked with a move to the Championship.. I think this would be the best place for Adam Barton..

League One is - as we all know - very physical and I don't think Adam Barton really suits that part of the game, remember two years ago like Conor Thomas until injury Adam was due to sign for Liverpool.

I like Barton also but he has had his chances and his time is up. He has been told to find a new club and that's what would be best for everyone. He is tall though and we could do with height in the park.

I will throw this one out there. What about baker centre mid. Aggressive, tackling, gets double figure goals in this league and a fair few assists. I know he will leave but he is a good honest man and let's face it has quality for league 1.

Not true Robo. That's an urban myth His injury had nothing to do with it.

Liverpool were rumoured to be looking at him in Feb 2011.

He suffered his leg break in Feb 2012

Liverpool had 2 transfer windows to sign him prior to his injury (Summer 2011 & Jan 2012).

I don't think he'll get a lot more time in any English division Robo. But good luck to him.

You don't really get more time on the ball in the higher leagues though, the players are fitter, faster and stronger than this league and now lots of teams are adopting the high press, high tempo style.

In general the players are of a much higher quality so it may seem they have more than time on the ball but that isn't really because the other team are letting them have it, it's because they are good players. Good players will create time and space with their movement regardless of the division

In terms of what we need
Ideally 2 strikers
At least one central midfield to push Thomas and Fleck for a place in the first team
Another winger if we plan on playing 442 regularly, if not it will be ok with what we have
Another centre back if we plan on playing 352 regularly, again if not we will be ok with what we have.

So I'd say another 4 signings with Baker and Barton leaving would be ok
