To be honest, I am not that bothered he's going. He is in his 30s now. He has been a good servant for us over the 3 years, never missed a game, kept his mouth shut and worked hard for us. I genuinely believe Burge will become a good no1 for us. Good luck to you Joe.

SP was paving the way for this by bigging up Burge the other week.

we can safely add "GK" to the list of positions we need to strengthen.

So, just GK, Left Back, Centre Back, Centre Mid, Left wing, Right wing and strikers now.

the real problem is that with our defence so weak that any self confidence burge has will soon be ripped to shreads ,,cant believe they are letting him go without a fight

Maybe Murphy was the problem at the back last season? He was the only player to play every game, while the players in front of him changed..... Yes he made some great saves last season, but IMO cost us a lot of goals points and games last season, how many clean sheers did he keep in 3 seasons?

A team required?

I seem to remember there was a clamour for Dunne to play instead of murphy .. Look how that ended ... Murphy is not the problem

Good luck to Joe, never rated him to begin, but really impressed me last season. Im hoping that Burge can step up, he made some great saves in Holland Pre Season and i was predicting he would start last season..........prove me right Lee!!!

But last season he played every game? Burge who had an excellent spell at Nuneaton, like Phillips did, didn't get a chance maybe after a few of the errors he should of? Just think Murphy for as good as he has been, and he had been good, we never got the chance to see if he was the problem or not, just my opinion of course!

Stick a premier league goalie in goal then and do we still concede as many goals with our defence? I think we still concede a shit load.

Will be a shame to see him go - hope Burge is up to the task and becomes the next Oggy.

It's nothing we didn't already know but there has been no contract layed out for him,he is just talking to other clubs of course that's natural for a player but I honestly think we will just about to keep him on the basis he doesn't want to sit on a bench like he would at hudersfield and he likes the manager and surroundings down here !!!!! Be optimistic guys and just hope we sign him in time !!! #PUSB

The Sky Blues manager knows the 32-year-old goalkeeper is in talks with other clubs after being strongly linked with a move to Huddersfield Town.
But he stressed on the club’s website: “I’m obviously aware that Joe has been in talks as he will soon be out of contract with us but to this point I understand that there has been no contract agreed or signed.
“Joe has been exceptional for this football club, both in terms of his form and level of appearances, and obviously I would like to see him stay here.
“By the same token, we are also aware that Championship football brings with it Championship wages and we would be unlikely to be able to compete with that.
“However, we still would like the opportunity to make a case for him to remain with us. I know he enjoys being here, he is highly respected and his performances have attracted a great deal of credit so ultimately it will come down to how Joe sees the next stage of his career.”

............................................................

still doesn't sound like there is a contract on the table. Havent we had months to "make a case" ?

Typical Sisu im afraid this isn't the first time they've let contracts run down without offering a new one. He even said he would take a pay cut fair play to him who would want to work for these bunch of fucking muppets. You can't lose millions in revenue and expect to compete it is only going to get worse imo.

That reads to me that making a case is to his agent?

I think they could have made that case a while ago, couldn't they. Murphy was fairly clear that he wanted to get this sorted before the end of the season.

If the club don't care about keeping Murphy, then they've probably done enough. However, if SP wanted to keep him, then this has been mishandled, imho. An early offer, even for a lower salary, might have been accepted. Now it's all up for grabs, and I suspect he feels a little unloved and unsettled - I would!

Just my opinion this, but I get the sense that SISU are stalling on offering contracts to anyone at the moment, other than cheap ones for the kids. Is this because of all of the uncertainty over the JR, perhaps?

Way I see it is, Huddersfield make an offer, CCFC make a poorer offer & Joe decides if not having to move is more important than the money/potentially longer contract ..

My gut feeling is 80% he will move, 20% he will stay.

Way i see it, Murphy has been saying for months he wants to stay, nothing forthcoming. Spoke to murphy in Jan but no contract offered, Murphy speaks to other clubs after season ends, CCFC say would like an opportunity to keep him.

We are stalling on something. No contract offered to any of those out of contract at the club, or any other club

We have this this story so many times, the club delays contract talks, the players agent talks to other clubs and the player moves........

To (mis)quote another movie... "Doctors say that Murphy has a 50/50 chance of signing, though there's only a 10 percent chance of that." ;)

the prevailing indecision by the owners, i am guessing,
is, that they are hoping that players will wait until after the JR,
we can only guess the pros & cons of that,
to me though, it is a further example of inept custody of a football club,
imho, totally unfit owners,
& imho, the FL & FA are also to blame for their inaction,
GIVE US BACK OUR CLUB
