Wolves game - Ricoh knocked on head (3 Viewers)

Just in case anyone hasn't seen this as publicised elsewhere, but for the Wolves game the hillers are keen to get a good turnout & separate events causes confusion so the idea of meeting at the Ricoh has been knocked on the head

By whom exactly? Who has the right to dictate where and when other people protest. I know a lot of people intending to go to the Ricoh, so going to sixfields has been and should have from the very beginning, been knocked on the head. There has never been anything productive about protesting about being in Northampton by actually going to Northampton.

Sorry, I took some points as read eg the idea of doing something on an organised basis (specifically by kcic) has been knocked on the head but it goes without saying that of course people can do exactly as they wish. As I say, I took these points as read but apols if it was not clear

Wonder if Grendel will go off on a rant about using devisive terms such as "hillers" again?

I'm now getting other messages saying it's a shame because they would prefer to go to Ricoh not hill!! Last week only a handful said they were up for it & I was getting more messages saying it was confusing having separate events. Any suggestions??

Who the hell are you to be dictating where and when people should protest? If you're that keen to protest outside the Ricoh why haven't you been there every week?

Hope you are there Saturday as want to shake your hand and assure that some of us appreciate what you do/doing.

Because going to the Ricoh, (on your own), every week is pointless and I'm sure, deep down, you know that too, which deems your question moot. I personally see no benefit of going on the Hill, although I don't criticise those who do. The only fans I do criticise are those that actually go inside sixfields. I don't know where the KCIC camp got their intel from, but there seems to be a lot more fans in Coventry willing to attend an organised protest for Saturday at the Ricoh, than going to sixfields. If they have only gathered the opinions of the handful of people that go on the hill, then that is nothing to base a whole fan base opinion on and call for a Ricoh protest to be 'knocked on the head'. The protest needs to be in Coventry, it needs to be well organised, preferably at the Ricoh and with more attendees than the sixfields crowd. This will tell everyone, who we are and where we want to be.

'Intel' (!) was by posting on here, FB, twitter and kcic mailing list! All done entirely openly and the handful of positive responses was outnumbered by the negatives. I've just replied to you on twitter saying action only happens if people get on and do stuff so if you think ricoh/hands around event would work then go for it!

Whether you see no benefit of going on the hill is of no interest to me. People were offered the chance to protest at the Ricoh many times how many took up the invites?

I'd completely disagree with your opinion that protesting on the Hill has no benefit. Regardless, you're obviously welcome to hold that opinion.

Michael's made a call based on the facts he's got to hand at the moment, I'd guess. As someone who's taken the time and effort to actually organise stuff, I think it's fair enough for him to make the call that KCIC would do better on the Hill. As he's said, there's nothing stopping you (or anyone else) organising anything different if that's what you want to do.

Personally I think it's a bit harsh criticising him here, and I suspect if you wanted to organise an additional/alternative protest you'd probably understand pretty quickly how much of a pain in the arse it is to do...

I'll second that. Michael has done a cracking job organising and publicising everything this season. It was a good idea to meet at the ricoh , however I think the last "home" game of the season against our biggest rivals in the league is the wrong game to do it. I'll be going on the hill Saturday with people who yet haven't been, and if anything is going to make people think again about playing there, then we need to cause an issue there. Pack the hill, sell out the the ground and get the police to cancel this shit idea of playing somewhere we really shouldn't call home.

As a regular Hiller, I don't really care what anyone else thinks about what we do. The Hillers enjoy ourselves in taking the opportunity to make our voices heard (and our drum, horns etc.) but over the course of the season it has become as much about the social occasion. If people want to come and join us and enter into the spirit that's fine but it is individual choice and no one is 'organising' anything different to what has happened for every game at Sixfields for most of this season. We had a good turnout for the Swindon game and it would be pleasing to see the same numbers or more with similar noisy, good natured behaviour.

Therefore, I don't think that the Hillers activities conflict in anyway if KCIC or anyone else wants to do something at the Ricoh. If you can sort out something worthwhile, I am sure that you have our best wishes.

That's all that matters. You have a good time and you feel like you're doing something about the situation. Can't argue with that.

I think in respect to numbers something local would be more effective. Not sure how it was achieved with the last protest in town but the word certainly got out and we need to try and replicate that. You will never get numbers over to Northampton which is a shame but you cannot knock the people who stand on the hill everyweek.
