When we sell Wilson in the summer ... (4 Viewers)

How much do you think we will get for him? If he had stayed fit do you think we would still have a play off shot or were we doomed as soon as Clarke was going?

The play offs were always only going to be an outside chance, especially with our leaky defence.

How much did wells go for? I'd say £1.5-2m. That would go up if he had managed to repeat it over another season or 2 with us.

Surely worth 1.5m plus?

If SISU want to make a statement of intent of any kind, keeping hold of Wilson, no matter the figure we may (or most likely will) get offered, will go someway of proving they want to see us do well and move up the league(s).

But in reality, us keeping hold of him is not likely.

For a player to not lose form, fitness or ability while out with an injury, and come back as if he's never been away, speaks volumes, and there probably aren't many players outside of the premiership who can do that.

Already got your fingers crossed that we will sell him no doubt.

Of course not but that record in our league makes it almost inevitable for most teams let alone a team whose history is that they sell player of the year almost every season.

Can I just say regardless of whoever our owners are or would be, we'd probably be selling him anyway in the Summer.

Nature of the beast of being a League One club.

Around a million if they are lucky to whoever will put the most money upfront, but it doesn't really matter as zero will be re-invested in the side so the less the better.

True but there's a good chance other owners would re-invest at least a significant portion of the '£1.5m plus' into the playing side of the business.

The tragedy of our situation is that OUR owners view that dosh as funding for 2 more seasons at sixfields.

It stinks.

We'd probably get £1.5m, that's over £2m in the kitty if you add in the Clarke money.

You'd need two strikers plus replacements for Murphy and Moussa out of that. That's doable I reckon.

Nah, we won't be spending £2m on players. £500k tops, the rest will go on covering losses.

All free transfers and loans and the money raised from Wilson to AVRO with the excuse of FFP.

It would be.

However...

It is pretty unlikely if we stay where we are, we do anything other than use some of the cash we'd get to pay the wages at the better end of the free transfer market than otherwise.

So one good season in League 1 under his belt and everyone thinks there will be a queue of clubs wanting his services for a million plus?
How did that go for Leon Clarke by the way?
He's had a good season, once at this level. he will remain here. Have another good season and a few will take notice but who has a million plus down at this or Championship level?
SISU would have to replace him and that would be so difficult and costly. Why can't he stay and win promotion with us next year?
he is young and wants to play week in week out. That means here not in the Championship like Clarke thought.

We should keep him another season. Another good season and he could go for similar to Nakhi Wells, maybe more.

More than a few are already taking notice and its not the one good season they are looking at... Pace, power, decent finisher and age makes him a real prospect. As for comparing him with Clarke, CW is a different player his movement is better and attitude is also much better than Clarke's.. Lastly don't kid yourself Prem clubs have not seen him, i know 4 clubs are sniffing 1 prem, 3 championship and all know his contract and wage.. Its going to be very hard for him and the club to turn down the money that will be offered, don't expect anyone to believe me but this summer along with Christie will be at a higher level club...
