I wouldn't want Wood to go as he is one of the best defenders at the club. I'm surprised he's not in the starting line-up at the moment. In fact, I would stick him up front at the moment.

Thing is, we have too many central defenders. Now Keogh is considered to be a central defender rather than a full back we have; Cranie, Cameron, Wood, McPake, Cranie, Turner.

That's SIX central defenders. Can't swap Turner as he is worth so much more than a swap deal with Rotherham. Cameron is one for the future so again that would be madness. Cranie is far too good for the 2nd division, Keogh was ever present last season and now first choice centre back and McPake has a terrible injury record and most clubs wouldn't touch him with a barge pole anyway.

That leaves Richard Wood.

you do realise Le Fondre is a league 3 player dont you? youd think we were getting decent premier goal machine

like Freddie eastwood, Clinton Morrison, Kevin Kyle, Best etc etc lets face it we have become a club that simply buys in shit players and the odd goodn, only to sell the good players leaving us with the shit we saw yesterday. Le Fondre is being massively overhyped FFS if he was that promising he would be snapped up by a prem club. lets shut up about him and hope the club go for another has been dimwit who just doesnt give a toss about our club. totally peed off already this season

Who has said he is that promising? Fact is, we can't afford to shop around for someone who is that promising! Apparently Leshtur, Celtic, ourselves and Sheff Weds are interested.

If it were only ourselves and League 1 clubs interested I could kind of see your point.

My least favourite City player by far, I don't think he's near Championship class. Rotherham sounds about right. At a level where goal-hangers like Le Fondre get goals galore due to defensive errors, he'd fit right in.

I like Wood but he is a bit of an old fashioned centre half and would be quite suited to League 1, which is where we got him from in the first place.

wood has a 50p head, none of his headers seem precise in defence

on saturday keough and crainie didnt lose much possession from headers,it was refreshing to see.

You could argue that Lineker and Phillips and Andy cole made careers out of being a goal hanger

Well I disagree, he isn't the tallest of players but he has a terrific leap on him and is a solid header of the ball.

I'm a big fan of McPake's as anyone on GMK will tell you. Think heading is his weakness though. He has a tendency to completely mistime his jumps and I don't believe he does head the ball particularly well. Really rate the bloke but would sya heading isn't his strength at all. Wood is good in the air as has been said but direction in his headers is again a weakness.

On the subject of defensive heading, I noticed less just heading it as far as possible on Saturday and more trying to control the ball or play it short to another defender. Very smart IMO, I'm all about the possession, but I wonder if the likes of McPake and Turner could manage in that style?

So good at it that they didn't play too much in L2.
