Akpom's loan deal (1 Viewer)

Chief Commentator!
So it seems Pressley isn't too happy with the way the deal has worked out.

I'm not sure what he expected though!?

Surely he must have known the content of the deal; he knew Akpom wouldn't be available every game, and with him being lined up for Arsenal's Euro championships, surely he knew he'd be doing a fair bit of travelling.

Says in the CET he's not happy that he's being trained by two clubs who play two different ways. Surely he knew this would be the case?

Must admit, I, along with other posters, had never heard of a loan deal like it. Still, even after this one, I've not heard of it happening elsewhere since. Think it's safe to say we won't see Pressley taking it as an option again anytime soon

Random theory but could it have been the only option that Pressley had open to him and he thought "fuck it, risk it for a biscuit"

Yeah it isn't ideal at all.

Anyone why we're not trying to get Marlon King who apparently is on his way to Mansfield? He could easily do a job for us at this level.

I read in the paper today he's trying to avoid a 2 year stretch atm

Likewise but that shouldn't have stopped us going after him when he left Sheff U and nor does it prevent Mansfield going for him.

I can only assume he won't fit SPs standards. SP wants a pressing game, whereas King is more of a Poacher or Free role player

Maybe but the point of a striker is to "stick it in the onion bag" on a regular basis which will King will do merrily, unlike any of the forwards signed by Pressley

Probably because he managed just 1 goal in 9 games for sheff united before they offloaded him, wasn't anonymous against us earlier in the season, looks like his legs have gone.

possibly the only striker to not score against us, but has played for CCFC before, this season surely?

I think he scored for Brum against us last season though, don't get too excited.

Would I be shouted down if I suggested we re-sign Clive Platt for his experience and senior player status in the dressing room. Put him on a short term deal and he might even get a few assists with his knock downs.

I meant this season :) we've had Cody, Jeffers, Morrison, Clarke-Harris, just to name a few :(

I can see your logic with Platt, we could do with someone to hold the ball up, but personally I'd rather sign a decent target man that can score too :)

Christ alive, I didn't even realise Jeffers played for Posh, never mind that he'd scored against us. The only thing more embarrassing would be to concede to a lightening run from Freddy Eastwood or an open goal opportunity by ROD
