He's not the most popular fella up in Scotland!

Nobody at the council ever seems to do any cursory research intp people or organisations.

Which explains why Sisu were their preferred bidder for the club I suppose.

Seems to have a lot in common with another Robinson once involved with a football club.

Good job his new employers have moved on from football if that's his past track record!

Like Coun Lucas said recently they have moved on from the dispute with CCFC so move on and do it quietly would be my advice, because bringing up CCFC every single statement doesn't look like moving on especially when you add that the door is still open..

I suppose Joy Seppala's statement that said "We will only return as owners" means nothing at all then?

Absolutely correct--they mean nothing what so ever.

quick thought. Instead of trying to get the Bees up a a huge arena like the ricoh, would there not be any mileage in moving the Bees to the Butts, and looking at using the Ricoh for Coventry Rugby ?

Probably noise issues greater for Earlsdon area than Holbrooks.

If you owned the Ricoh business what would you do?

a. Continue to wait for CCFC to return even though they are planning to build a new stadium and have shown no intention to return after 12 months away.

b. Look at other business possibilities like expanding other areas of the business ie corporate, hotels etc and looking at other possibilities for the stadium.

Please answer as if its your money, not as a Coventry fan.

I would start negotiations with a business that clearly would secure the Ricoh and close the door in CCFC.

At the same time I would privately and public ally put a take it or leave it offer to CCFC.

With a deadline if the deadline comes and their is no movement from SISU I would move on.

However I have no doubt if the alternative is a realist one SISU will come running.

Option b) that is what I said earlier in the thread, but of course it was wrong, however if ACL and CCC want to move on then they really should and just forget CCFC, there is only so much you can offer one party.

ACL cannot resolve the situation - nothing they can offer will bring back the Club.

The only way to bring back the Club to the Ricoh is an agreement to sell the shares in ACL to SBS&L.
Add to that a new long lease (99yr) in Exchange for the £14m ccc loan.

Lets face it, it really is time one or other party actually DID something.

I am sick of all this posturing:

"We're building a new stadium"

"We're moving on"

It is all bollocks on both sides. SISU know that the Ricoh is the only viable option [other than a permanent move to Northampton]

CCC/ACL know that the only viable option for the Ricoh is a return by CCFC, or major investment to alter the main thrust of the business. The idea that Cov Rugby or the speedway would make reasonable tenents is ridiculous.

So for either party the only "moving on" options are massively expensive and time consuming.

Because of this both sides are very wary about calling the others bluff, after all talk is cheap, but actually handing out some cash is very different.

Exactly I couldn't agree more this a huge game of Chess and the Club and the Ricoh are pieces in the game, in affect I'd like to see more people like Chris Robinson brought in to either side for fresh faces and ideas in negotiations and see if a compromise can be met, other than that if ACL/CCC can survive without CCFC and continue to come out and state that they've moved on from the row with CCFC, then close the door of opportunity and look at other porspects and let the Club build the Stadium they're willing to build.

So u think if SISU saw a viable option about to sign up at the Ricoh on a long term deal.
They would choose to borrow 30 million and build a new stadium?

I think if they were offered to buy the shares in ACL at a fair Price they would take it.
Higgs probably would be happy to sell their 50% - it's all up to CCC to offer their 50%.

All the nonesense about how everybody have moved on ... well, they have all moved to the position where the choice is either sell ACL to SBS&L or don't.

Isn't this arse over tit, doesn't the buyer usually approach the seller with an offer?

So why didn't they buy the Higgs share recently then?

I think we have been over this a few times before ... or a few dozens of times.
sisu/ccc agree a joint plan where sisu acquire the ACL mortgage and discharge it, buy out the Higgs shares and finally buys the ccc's shares.
Then ACL financial director transfers to Yorkshire bank, Hoffman & Elliott turns up with Haskel IV, CCC buys the mortgage ... etc. Maybe the clue is hidden in between some of these events?

Is it ethical for a council to be in agreement with a private company to distress a charity/council's business in order to under value a mortgage?

Is that what the original agreement was that it seems the council stepped away from?

It may not be ethical, anymore than it was in the first place, hatched I might add by the private company who are now bleating!

The last thing I read from the trust q+a on here the other day suggested for their £7M. investment clearing the loan entitled them the clubs original 50%
Whether that needs clarifying??

Nothing unethical about it, the only loser would be the bank which overstated the value of an asset in the first place

I have seen this sort of thing posted several times. Never seen any proof of it though. Yet so much is made of it.

If true why did they hold talks on buying the Higgs share before anything else happened?

All this talk about SISU buying the Ricoh if ACL goes into administration is doing my head in . I may not be right but if ACL did go tits up and the administrator had to sell it ( Which seems to have been Sisu's plan) , what is to stop someone else coming along and offering more than Sisu's offer . Is there any guarantee Sisu could get control of the Ricoh or does an administrator have to sell it off to the highest bidder.
Obviously it is hypothetical but for the life of me I can't see how Sisu would be guaranteed the Ricoh even if they win the JR and ACL have to give the 14million back. Anyone can bid for it or am I just being a bit thick ?

If ACL did go into admin, would they get to choose the administrator, seems that happened somewhere else recently...............

If ACL went into admin isn't it probable that the lease reverts to CCC?

ACL is not going into administration and it was never the intention from any of the parties. There's NO danger of that happening now or even 5 years into the future unless something completely unforeseen happens. They may run out of cash, but then they may have assets to sell or the option to bring in another investor. Don't worry about the Ricoh - it will survive with or without ccfc there.

I don't know . I am not into finance / property / law.

I am but a simple man who as long as I'm warm , well fed etc. and has enough money for a pint or two , is mostly content with my lot :D

Although I reckon this site could be used as an excellent resource for uni students studying any of the above . :)

It does - I am sure Fisher or Labovitch have mentioned it as one of their issues with CCC
