A wealthy benefactor (ie Haskell) invested heavily in, or bought, Coventry Sphinx and at the same time acquired all, or part, of the Ricoh ? A question, not a suggestion.

It wouldn't happen. No chance. If it did then obviously it would gain fans and support. Ricoh would be too big but it wouldn't get my support. I'm a Coventry city fan whether we are in turmoil or not.

do you mean what will happen as in will people watch Sphinx? Or do you mean what will happen to CCFC?

Sorry VOR but I really don't care. It would not be CCFC and would not be my club.

what would happen? the forum would explode, think of the crying and ridiculous thread that came from Leicester u21 playing a couple of games there due to a water logged pitch and then imagine what it would be like if someone took the ricoh on a permanent basis.

question of my own, why hasn't he already done it ?

a club could be bought for pennies and Ricoh doesnt have a tennant

Bullshitter I think. Firstly Leeds then us. BAck in June he was apparently "pressing ahead" with buying into the Ricoh anyway and then trying to get CCFC "eventually".

Anyone ever heard bout Chievo Verona in Italy?

Nothing club whilst Hellas Verona won Serie A in '85. Rich cake manufacture bought Chievo, changed the colours to yellow and blue (same as Hellas Verona), moved up the leagues to professional football.

Chievo then moved into the municipality owned stadium where Hellas Verona play and have gone on to play in the UEFA Cup. They are in Serie A still but have half of the fans of Hellas Verona (who have now been promoted back to Serie A also).

I think the key word here is 'apparently'.
Paper talk is all we have access too in this situation.

Please explain why any rich benefactor would do that? What would he have to gain and how would he get a return on his investment?

Get Sphinx into the football league, then sell the whole lot as a package?

Not saying it will happen, but that would be the aim?

Just look up the meaning of the word benefactor and ask yourself if you understood the proposition.

PS Such people are almost but not quite as rare as hens teeth.

They have a lot less than half the fans of Hellas.

At the point SISU believed it was really going to happen they would attempt to buy the Ricoh, move back to the Ricoh on a long term rental or try and sell CCFC to the wealthy entity.

It's the best thing that could happen be it Nuneaton, Hinkley or whoever.

It is the quickest way CCFC would return to Coventry.

As far as I remember there were quotes from him, but I could be mistaken. Another good example though of believing the CET when it suits and dismissing them when it doesn't.

Not beyond the realms of possibility and i'll tell you what would happen,if successful and playing well people would go and watch and the better things got and the higher up the leagues they got more would watch and sisu would have a problem.

CWR said he was "weeks" away from acquiring a part of the Ricoh while the bidding for the Club was happening.

CT also had quotes but I don't know to what nature.

But who actually said it.

It's lazy journalism to make a general statement without quoting the facts or the source.

Makes my case. No actual quote from Haskell other than he was disappointed with the administrators decision.
The article headline is based 'on a source' close to Haskell and continually says it 'is understood' but does not say from where.
In addition it only loosely mentions this is for buying half of ACL which is a long way short from buying the club and the stadium.

I agree the evidence was there that he was interested in buying the club but he is not stupid enough to but the stadium without the team.
SISU / Appleton out maneuvered him on that one.

It's only bad when Tim Fisher talks rubbish in the paper, anybody else it's just the press making things up

When they quote someones name it can be believed as if it isn't they can sue.
When they quote a source close to someone it is usually speculative journalism.

Stop justifying SISU position.
