Just been thinking the last I heard of this guy he was trying to buy half the ground, then it never happened and it all went very quiet ! Did anyone ever hear anything after that! What could have been if Appleton chose him !! (Clown)

Think that Keys said twice last year that Haskell had defintely bought half the Ricoh.

Guess that means he must own the whole lot then.

Maybe he's responded to the urgings of Dongle and bought Nuneaton so he can call them Northampton Sky Blues and play at the Ricoh.

Northampton sky blues? Think you maybe getting a tad confused there, someone else is wasting 30 million on that one.....

Seems that anyone with money who walks near the club gets linked as new owners. I think that it says more about the desperation of the supporters than the seriousness of the bids.

I don't ever believe he was a viable option. ACL's preferred administrator was unsure whether he had the funds to complete a takeover of Leeds when all that was happening first time around. Saying that, look who Guilfoyle chose for Leeds.....

Richard Keys has been quiet for some time, so I can only deduce that loads of things are happening on all fronts. It's when he starts declaring things are happening that we know nothing is going on.

He didn't need to. Last we heard he was still buying the Higgs share anyway....

Haskell weren't going to hang about waiting for our owners

Don't need to assure me of anything. That was last June when he said he was pressing ahead with the Ricoh and eventually CCFC.

He isn't I assure you, he has realised what a joke it all is and done one. He is a smart man remember.

maybe he has set up a new "hide and seek" business with Brody ?

If so I'd use it, as they have good provenance

A clever man.

I mean mega rich anyway but goes round courting clubs in trouble and gets free hospitality for a month, and then when it doesn't come off (no surprise) he moves on to the next free hospitality.

(For anyone who doesn't see it, its a joke)

After SISU or Otium or whoever got the club back after the administration thing, Haskell said he would press on with the Ricoh and eventually try to acquire CCFC. But yes, that guy.

You mean the guy who wanted to buy the stadium and the team as a package?
Unfortunately the team was needed as a hostage in a plan by its owners to get the same but for a lot cheaper.

So he walked away.

Preston Haskell IV is continuing with a bid to get control of the Ricoh Arena and eventually Coventry City Football Club.

According to the Coventry Telegraph this morning, a source close to the American said: “He is very disappointed with the administrator’s decision on Friday but he believes there is great potential in the stadium that has not yet been realised.
“He is therefore still very interested in buying half of ACL and is going to continue discussions to try to reach agreement on half of the stadium, not withstanding the mess at the football club.
“Preston and his consortium do not understand what Sisu are trying to achieve with their bid. They don’t understand the business model, which they believe is unsustainable.
"The fans are up in arms and Preston and his people firmly believe that Coventry City should play in Coventry, at the Ricoh Arena, and they don’t see how making this move will benefit Sisu’s investors in the short, medium or long term.
“As a consequence, they are going to continue to have discussions on the stadium and wait to see what happens at the football club.”

He saw the business plan of playing at the Ricoh, the attitude of local people towards the football owning it and thought fuck this I'm off.

When we first entered Admin in the summer he was "a couple of weeks" away from buying the Ricoh that's what I heard on CWR, however Leeds Fans said he never bought there Club as he couldn't back his hype with cash, so I will leave that for everyone to ponder.

Fairly simple. The prestige for this guy relates to owning a football club not just a building. If there was a chance of owning both there would be a few interested parties.
Individually both CCFC and Ricoh will just plod along but neither will achieve there full potential until they are bought together.
Does not matter whether it is a lease or purchase agreement as both will mutually benefit.
Sisu selfishly want to maximise their profits by a hostile take over of the Ricoh (good business though ?). Unfortunate the fans are collateral damage.

Don't worry folks I'm also on the verge of buying the Ricoh. I have the money it's just the winning lottery ticket has temporarily been mislaid. Not sure why my Patterdale bitch has a guilty look on her face?

I agree with you Italia that buying one without the other makes little sense, however if Haskell was deadly serious about buying a Football club, do you think that when he had the chance to invest into Leeds Utd it would of been wise? I am not sure Haskell was ever serious about purchasing our Club, if he was then it wasn't for the intention of the Club, but for himself, a lot like Byng and his Chinese Investors.

I think you're wrong there.

We all want the club to own it but not under sisu. Hopefully the judicial review will go against them and they'll cut their losses and leave.

Hopefully then someone who has the best interests of the football club at heart, and more importantly treats the fans of this club with the respect they deserve can come in and sit down with the council/acl about freehold ownership and access to revenue streams.

Sisu are finished in Coventry, they'll never get their filthy hands on the Ricoh, the sooner they realise this and piss off the better.

The guy is/was a property developer...there's nothing to say he was after the prestige of owning a football club. His intentions for all you or I know, could've been as good as SISUs...

I'd have to say sadly that "prestige" and "Coventry City Football Club" are not words that are often associated with each other.

Haskell wasn't fussed about the football club.

It was all about the Ricoh and the Surronding land for PH4, like it was for Byng, we actually have more chance of Sisu getting us higher up the Football League Pyarmid then Byng or Haskell.

Are you having a laff , the only place we are going with SISU is down mate, and the sooner you and others see that the better.

I am being deadly serious, what you have to realise is at some point Sisu will cut their losses and go, this will only happen when they have a) Something worth selling or b) A succeesful enterprise, if they can achieve both and recoup all their investment they'd get out of Coventry that I am sure of. The only way to do this would be to purchase the Ricoh as cheaply as possible and ensure we maintain a higher league status. A third division Club means nothing to them and it's worth them keeping than selling.
