13/14, 14/15, 18/19 - League One
15/16, 17/18, 19/20, 20/21 - Championship
16/17 - Premier League

(IMPORTANT NOTE - I left midway through 16/17, so the swift two-year return to L1 was nothing to do with me guv.)

After three years. Attendances go up, but how much depends on how you're doing.

finished 12th in 12/14 season, expected to get midtable with board in 14/15 season, but player after player leaving as can't renew contracts :(

You just have to pack the squad with loans who cost £0 in wages mostly, think I had about 7/8 loan players in one season

Just had to sell half of my squad as the board reduces my wage budget even further, so practically everyone had to go up for sale! We will see how the rest of the season plans out!

Yeah 2nd season in! Pain in the arse, got a squad size of about 12 players now! Managed to stay up just I think! So rebuilding on a shoe string commences! (Sound familiar anyone?)

I got jammy with contracts, I only lost Barton and Fleck due to not being able to afford the renewal before teams could come in (both were poached by Scottish sides in January, the rule that prevents English sides coming in before June saved my bacon)

With a 5 million wage budget ;-)

Something like that! I didn't go mental though.

I did create a new player in my own name though and his ratings are pretty high. Some call it cheating, I call it data manipulation/creative accounting!

i just won back to back bundesliga with bayern, finnaly worked out a great tactic for fm14

with cov do they ever return to ricoh on the game? if not its very hard to sort them out long term even with promotions i would imagine.

First season with Cov finished in 9th place, 6 points off play offs. Sisu got taken over by this guy called Adam Pearson. Gave me some serious backing with a 2m budget to play with for the 2nd season and now in my 2nd season currently in 2nd place and 3 points off top in February. Managed to tie down John fleck for a couple more years and Frank Moussa cannot stop scoring.

Do share.....

fm14 is the hardest version of the game i have ever played, i wanted my money back at one point, no matter who i was(cov, inter, bayern, real madid) i conceded goals non stop.

i dunno if anyone else felt the same?

in my 3 seasons ussing this tactic i have counceded 11,17 and 21 each season. and scored between 55-70

it works with small teams too,but you need good wingers

briefly it is 4-2-3-1(with wingers)

play 2 cb as central defners-defend
full backs-support
2 bwm one defend-one support. tell support one to try risky passes
2 wingers attack
1 engache(behind striker)
1 poacher

goals are mixed between front 4 for most part. poachers get 15-25(lewandoski 25, leon clarke 21) a season.

play counter - balanced with direct passing and high tempo, deeper defence, pass out of back and pass into space, stay wider and look for overlap.

with covs starting squad i would play baker and either moussa/fleck as wingers, but the tactic will lack some pace which is the real killer on the counters.

let me know if it works for you.

Who do you play in the Engache role? Thought Fleck would be best there? And who do you play as your second ball winner alongside Thomas?

I had some joy playing similar tactics to Pressley, converted J Clarke to a centre back. Wilson scores plenty in a 4-4-2 formation alongside L Clarke, both playing as advance forwards but Clarke's scoring record is woeful in that formation.

In my first season with the default squad, I scored 98 goals. But conceded 77 I think.

with bayern i use muller or gotze

for cov its fleck or rotation between baker, moussa or some guy i got called tom lawrence

thomas is bwm defend and support goes to one of the above or lobjolt and thomas can work, not ideal till you get some cash to buy players again.

lol goals conceded is crazy on this game. leon clarke is great poacher though i have found

Him moussa and baker were great in my first season. 20 odd goals each. But my 2nd season I got sacked after falling out with the trust's chairman.

some bugs need to be fixed though, set piece conceding ratio is too high imo

Does everyone hire better coaches etc? Cus I found a good attacking coach helps your players rather than just have the computer generated ones. Also, what does a director of football do? Hired one, and it achieved feck all as far as I could tell?

i dont really bother with coaches but a good youth coach would be a good idea

i like to add 3-5 new scouts when i get the chance with 15 minimum for judging prospects, that increases search results when you look for a new player

with big teams after 3-4 years i buy lots of 17-19 year old players and then for the last 5 years of the game i usually win stuff with team full of superstar computer generated kids

with cov it is still hard to get good youth prospects to join but it can be done sometimes.

I've not bought this game for a couple of years as I completely lose myself in it and forget to eat/blink/breathe. But it's getting bought tonight.

Nice knowing you all.

fm 12 is still the best imo but i am warming to new game now that i have managed to make something that works, trust me it is really hard at first!

cov save really hard be warned, use squad players like rankin and lobjolt etc, because loads of games in league one!

christie got sold to wigan by adminsitrator in my game but they did loan him back to me immediately.

I do find better coaches do help...it helps players develop further. I used to bother with training and match preparation but I leave that all to the default setting now.

As for the Director of Football, I managed to snag Dave Bassett but he did bugger all in 2 seasons!
