If I am honest I am surprised Webster didn't start.

Now ,Now Girls after all he's a Sky Blue Player. I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose anyway it was a suicide pass to him.

Made a goal saving tackle with a few minutes left, was given an awful pass and all our players have been guilty of gifting possession to the opposition with piss poor passes over the last 5 weeks.

To be fair, it was his fault that he needed to make that tackle.

Is there really anyone who believes their own words when saying this is the best side in 12-15 years?...Walloped by (At that time 3rd from bottom) Tranmere. Came under the cosh from a League 2 outfit, and were lucky to get the draw(Hartlepool)....and couldn't beat 2nd from bottom that had only scored 4 goals away from home all season(Crewe). I don't want to pi** on everybody's chips but...Come on!

Shock horror 22 year old 3rd division footballer makes a mistake(did he?)..... he's not the first, won't be the last... I just think a thread that singles him out isn't quite cricket?
I didnt see today's game, for well versed reasons, so not able to comment specifically, but saw him at Walsall and he was arguably MOTM in my opinion?
Please lets not start a witch hunt against a sky blue player for the sake of wanting a scapegoat- particularly as most of us (80/90%) view from a distance and via proxy given the circumstance.

Jordan has done well this season but I think we need to be putting Webster in at the back during the league fixtures, that's most important.

Maybe- but he's not the most mobile?... would suggest horses for courses.. and perhaps Jordan does need a rest... and maybe against H'pool he is the man.... think he will play.

But we can't keep having these mistakes I know that Webster has given us a few mistakes this season too, but we need to take Clarke out the firing line and just put a CB in that position even if it's just for one game.

Quite why people are calling for Webster to have played is beyond me. Its clear that we have a thin squad and players we have bought in are being used to allow some players a break. Webster didn't have a pre season with us has been away from training for a few days so was not in any position to play today. Before today we had 7 games in 21 days. The squad will have to be used to the max.

Fast forward 12 months and if we're still at Sixfields, we'll look back on some of these players as if they were Messi compared with what we might have - and lord knows who as manager?!

Having just watched the highlights, it is quite clear that Jordan Clarke should be burnt, flipped over, toasted on the other side, hung, drawn, quartered, shot, boiled in oil, chopped into little pieces and then posted to his mother in several little parcels, ears first.

We need a scapegoat and he has been duly nominated at this present time and we therefore need to slate and abuse him constantly and consistently throughout the entire season until the next nominations are due and a new scapegoat is unveiled and selected.

Harsh but fair.

Just seen the second goal poor pass from Maguire (admittedly) but it's the same old thing when Jordan gets the ball, doesn't do anything with it and loses it, he should just either smash it out or hook it forward, when he loses it be a bit more intelligent and just bring the man down, taking a cheap yellow card (which it would have been as Dan Seaborne was back and Jordan wasn't last man) would have helped take 3 points.

Shambles all over to be fair.

Agreed.. along with Fleck for the first, with a nice Seaborne step over to allow their man in..... take them from this place hang them by the neck...:sarcasm:

Having just seen the replay, it's pretty harsh to criticise Clarke - awful pass by McGuire and the ball bizarrely spun backwards when it bounced. The first goal looked even worse.

It was Dagnell not fleck that gave the ball away for the first, but Thomas, fleck and Seabourne all failed to deal with it or close the midfielder down.

The majority of the goals conceded this season have been through defensive mistakes. If we could defend (as a team because the midfield two should protect the back four) then we would probably be in the top six

Well said.

I'd be surprised if Webster and Seaborne are not SP's first choice pairing.

We've had a long run of games with virtually the same players playing every week, and now with the busy festive period coming up it makes perfect sense to give players a rest. And as one of the elder statesmen of the team Webster is a prime candidate for rotation.

The wind was absolutely dreadful. During the half-time break Baker was practising on the pitch. He was kicking the ball high out of the penalty area up the pitch and it hung in the air and span backwards. He was trying to get it into the net.

This league is littered with mistakes. For instance Crewe poorly defended our corner. Also Wilson was going nowhere for the penalty why bring him down? Mistakes work both ways.

Over the season a lot of our goals seem to be through the midfield, we are open, then defenders making mistakes or just making poor choices.

We look really comfortable for long periods, then react badly to break down in play.

We are a flawed team at the moment. Pressley (anyone, needs three years at this club). This is about the whole coaching ethos and club culture. I see more positives than I have done for years. Unfortunately time isn't something invested at most clubs. But the ones that do usually end up being successful.

One could make an argument that all goals ever scored are due to defensive mistakes.
