Did the loan players come off today? (3 Viewers)

Given Presley's thoughts on building a tight unit I was more than surprised to see baker seemingly dropped for maguire. Do prople think there is a realistic chance of them staying beyond a month or was sp taking a risk with the tight squad?

Bakers needed dropping for some time. Looked unfit I recent games, and Maguire is the only suitable candidate to replace him. Obviously couldn't last week, so had to today.

Seems via CWR and on here though that he's gone from hero to zero over the space of less than two appearances ;)

As I said on Twitter the performances of Maguire and Dagnall won't always be top notch they haven't played for their parent clubs and are lacking playing time.

Baker was only dropped today with Tuesday in mind, don't need to look beyond that.

I'd like to sign both permanently, but whereas Dagnall might be the easier signing, Maguire could make it in the Championship.

Maguire absolutely booted one of their players today and was lucky to stay on

My brother is a Pompey fan and he told me when he signed that Maguire has all the ability but is inconsistent and doesn't know the word "easy"

I don't think he was that bad apart from the dodgy back pass :(

Neither did I, there is no way to judge after one 1/2 games, let's hope that another weeks training and next weekend at Swindon we can go again.

We owe these turnip farmers.

It poses the question , Is Mr Pressley a Hypocrite ? :thinking about::eek::eek::whistle:

Given the remarks during the season where he expressed disdain for the loan market and gaining an advantage by utilising the system

,coupled with statements around a "Small Tight unit".

While his hand has been forced through Injury and suspension,,I'm not certain that while Baker may have been considered fatigued, he has

earned a drop to focus on the Cup. The same could be said for Leon to a degree ,although he is only just back from his injury ,but both those

players would want to play every match.

While I'm sure a breather can be argued to benefit ,Is the Cup a priority ,Is Its financial benefit overiding league focus?

Anyway ,just an observation and not necessarily a hardened opinion .

The thing is when you skip back to Rotherham game when Leon was out injured with no Manset you look at the bench and there is nothing on it except kids that can give you a lift or help.

Signing the three players that we have on loan has given us options at the least.

I disagree. He was our best player at Hartlepool, but I gotta admit before then he had been poor. Completely agree with leaving Leon out. He's been lazy and uneffective for the last couple of days and was apparently out drinking a lot of nights during his time on the sidelines, so I wouldn't have brought him back due to that and the fact he's only just come back

Does seem a bit hypocritical, he used loans while he was manager at Falkirk. He's used loans regularly throughout his career if not in abundance, which makes you wonder why he ever said it :thinking about:

The thinking on Baker and Clarke was simple. Both will be needed on Tuesday therefore SP hoped to give them both a rest today. Nothing sinister going on there!

Basic good management and use of squad - Dagnell & Maguire inelligible for Tuesday......Clarke just back from injury and Baker given a boot up the arse. Both will be back for Tuesday and both will turn in good performances on Tuesday night in what I think will be a comfortable win to go to round 3 in fa cup.....simples!!!
