AFC - a different approach (4 Viewers)

I remain completely split about the whole afc idea but I wonder if there is another way of looking at it.

Instead of setting up a new team as an alternative to ccfc, should we set up a new team as a part of the protest about what is happening to CCFC? The new team would play in sky blue and its badge would be a sky blue ribbon. For those who don't want to go to sixfields it gives them a team to watch till we finally get CCFC back. As for team name, it would need to reflect the protest idea eg 'Coventry in Coventry' 'Coventry ribboners' etc

What to people who are interested in the afc idea think?

Going to watch CCFC is a bit different to watching pub football. If I just wanted to watch a different game I'd walk over a park.

The future could hold many scenarios and that's one - what's important for now is seeing if there is any support for this kind of approach.

you support the give 100 thousand pounds to the people you are protesting about in order to show them and the world how angry you are with them despite the fact they and the world already know how angry you are and don't care protest.

This can't be done as a threat or a protest. If we go this route we have to comit to it and stick with it, and accept that the current board's entity may wither/die/rebrand.

The new regime can't just be disbanded if the old board try to come back to Coventry, we can't just hand back control. If we set up a new board, we run with it, let the old entity go, and accept the consequences. If we recognise and embrace the new board as CCFC, why would we want to welcome back the board we removed? And why wouldn't we want to be in control of our own destiny? Why wouldn't we want an open and transparent organisation, with an elected board, answerable to us?

This is not really about setting up a new club as an alternative, this is about regime change!

Gary that issue isn't impossible to get around with a bit of negotiation.
Though negotiating with Sisu would be like a bag of ferrets in a sack. Think we'd all agree on that.
But as a STRATEGY for forcing the issue it has advantages.
Like Michael says - I'm divided on the idea too, but with each passing month it gets more miserable.
90% + of the fans won't be going to Sixfields. Thousands of people love their club. A crying shame.
We've got to be masters of our own fate. We're letting Sisu get away with it at the minute.

To be honest Michael, I don't see the difference between your suggestion and the other AFC idea, other than the name and badge.

Doesn't change the dynamic if it's'a club set up until you come back' either, that *is* Sphinx, except Sphinx is already there, to save the effort of setting it up and knocking it down.

It's another half-arsed attempt that would end up saying nothing, and as a result have zero impact. Do it properly or not at all, and if not at all then come up with some things that allow a pro-active focus and attendance of a number of people.

It didn't work out. By next year we will have 5 new Pheonix clubs one after the other as they all fail. The real club attracted gates of 5,000 against non league opposition that would be infinately superior to midland combination dross.

Frankly the only people interested are on here. They should find out how it's done set a club up and stop boring everyone else with it.

That's a very bright response, perhaps we should set of Coventry City FC in Northampton, convert the locals to Coventry fans, then ask them to go to the Club Shop in Coventry, then if they don't go ask the Lawyers to send them letters, then if they refuse batter them in the courts, what a wonderful plan

As I say join with others who want to set a club up, ask how the Manchester breakaway club was formed and get on with it.
