how long will it be before local buisnesses start lobbying the council to sell to sisu ,,last week would not have been terrible because of the charity match ..but from now on there takings are going to be battered.. the bus companies and pubs will be loosing a fortune,not to mention takeaways ,taxis,casino..the knock on effect is endless

Why will local businesses such as Taxis, buses, takeaways and casino be losing a fortune. Casino still open, Tesco still open, they are building a new Frankie and Benny's and some Mexican grill thingy. So there must be some confidence somewhere. Buses run up and down the Foleshill Road all week and taxis don't take that much trade on football days, in fact with less traffic congestion they probably ain't that bothered.

I sincerely hope that our council are not playing a waiting game. They hold the keys to unlock this situation and I hope they are using them behind the scenes

how about the option of SISU accepting a large offer for the club which will be offset by a lower sale price for the council half of ACL than previously offered, a deal for the Higgs share having already been agreed........now if only such an investor had just made such an offer...

Certain they are mulling over what to do next. Unfortunately things can run slower than we like. There seems to be a number of fronts, there's the judicial review appeal, the revelations from the Football League chairman, how significant are they ? The fact ccfc ltd have not yet been liquidated as forecast, the possible appeal about a flawed administration and a request for a re-run, if any of those goes to court it could take months. There's also the writ to NTFC from ACL be interesting if that jumps the queue and where that leads. Meanwhile all us "small" people can do is speculate, read and listen, trudge over to Northampton once a fortnight (if that floats your boat) and hope the team keeps winning.

You are right really. Apparently if you believe reports there's the American, Preston North Heskell, still around pops to uncle Joe's for tea on a regular basis so must be at least interested and there's the Byng/Chinese consortium popping their heads up now and again, (who are they though?) As it is obvious the attraction to both groups is the Ricoh and the surrounding potential and infrastructure more than a third division football club why doesn't either make a bid, or have they ?

With the naming rights due in less than 2 years some outlay can be recouped from that I would like to think more than the £10million received last time. One thing for certain the company Ricoh have certainly had plenty of publicity recently. One thing I keep thinking though is the likes of PHIV with Elliott and Hoffman in tow and probably this Byng character know a lot more than we do and may be . waiting for the right price. Trouble is we the fans are frustrated want a quick solution to this on going nightmare when big business people look very long term.

Is it just me or have I the feeling that the reason it's gone silent again is because we are getting resigned to the fact that we're stuck at Northampton now,and the march and ribbon tying is fading away ? I hope I'm wrong of course as I'm anti Sixfields and anti SISU.But with the team looking a lot better than we ever envisaged and goals coming thick and fast,it won't shock me at all to see the attendances creeping up at our new "home" ground in the coming weeks.
I bet Fisher is rubbing his hands in glee at that thought as that's what they want,more fans turning up.
But I'm planning to get my ticket for Shrewsbury away and even though I want to go to every game I have to stick to my guns and stay away from Northampton.

You're coming at this from the wrong direction.

A more relevant angle would be: how long will it be before local businesses start lobbying SISU to return to the Ricoh at £150k a season.

I would suggest that if anyone wants to 'unlock this situation', it should be SISU. To either play at the Ricoh until they have their new stadium ready, or to offer a fair value for the freehold of the Ricoh?!?

If they did so, candidly, without strings or duplicity; and that offer was 'fair' (within the context of the totality of the claimed building of their own stadium - which looks half the proposition the Ricoh is), then I - with every other fair minded City supporter in the City - would be banging at the council's doors to urge acceptance.

And sell to whom exactly? That's all very well but what you and many others still continue to see is that they DONT HAVE ANYONE TO SELL TO that's going to benefit CCFC. PH and MB may have submitted offers but they're both only interested in the infrastructure, not the club. Haskell is a property developer and Byng is interested in HS2. When will people realise that at this moment in time (which could change at any minute), there's no knight in shining armour.

This doesn't mean we need to be continually negative and put up with the crap we currently have but people seem to think that all SISU need to do is sell the club and we'll be fine. We need someone who has lots of money, likes/loves CCFC and is stupid. Otherwise we'll sell to the likes of Haskell or Byng and there's a fair chance that they'll pay as much attention to the club as Seppala/SISU/Otium.

One of the reasons we are where we are is because of council intervention in the past to save the club from paying the price of the, then, owner's folly.

I don't see how any other party, other than the fans, can do much to alter the current situation. They either trot along to Sixfields, to support 'their' team and keep the current regime on life support or they stay away and starve them out (preferably) or if not into compromise.

Key asset of Coventry = a football stadium that doesn't host football matches. Fantastic asset to have. I'm sure all the usual guff about concerts and Davis cup etc will be forthcoming. Primarily though it is a football stadium

Maybe if Tim Fisher would publicly state they would accept a rent offer of £150K we could see if the offer exists or not. When questions about it on CWR he did his best to change the subject and was not prepared to say they would accept such an offer.

The 150k rent has not been made to 'SISU' though has it? So ask ACL why not?

As for 'ownership' of the Ricoh. I'm inclined to say never to this hedge Fund group in a million years. Now a long term assignable lease is a very different matter and should have been explored long ago. Again ask ACL?

As for business suffering due to loss of football at the Ricoh. Yes absolutely. I think people are under estimating the impact. I've seen two bus companies go bust since just one school cancelled their contract. It really does not take much when a business is reliant on regular income streams (where have we heard that before?)

That's what the post argued and that's what I agreed with, confident in the belief that SISU will do neither because they don't give a monkeys about the football club and would never pay a fair price for anything.

Funny that cos in the Trust Q&A he says he'd accept £150k as long as "the other related income is acceptable" (or along those lines).

The club have stated they want all income "that would not exist had a football match not been played". Which implies car parking, F&B, casino and Costa takings, etc. my guess is that's the sticking point.

IIRC the Higgs shares come with all football related income AND half the rest. That options not on the table thanks to the club owing ACL money, but it'd be trivial for a company that has cash to fund a new stadium to resolve.
