This is beyond me. For many a year, the fixture list has been something I awaited with much anticipation, something which broke up a mundane close season, on the eve of the first game, especially the first away game of the season the anticipation of the train journey, meeting people old and new, people who I know nothing about, but know as a friendly face or sometimes the not so friendly face of people who frequent away games can give a false sense of what following the City is. Not always logical, but something I always look forward to none the less. The train journey south or north, the pubs, the heat, the occaisonal away win - Barnsley 4-1 springs to mind. Those of you who were lucky enough to get tickets may remember the 3-0 Micky Quinn hat-trick at Arsenal.
However, this year I feel nothing, no excitement, disappointment that we will be fronted by a somewhat nameless clan endorsed by the so-called governing body owning our football administration who are spineless and overpowered by money and legal threats.
Personally I cannot go to a game - home or away and whole-heartedly belt out "Lets All Sing Together", who are you singing it to and who is going to care? Any player with any kind of value will be off at the first opportunity (wouldn't you in their position?) and either way Coventry City as we used to know it will be taken on another journey by SISU fronted my faceless individuals. I personally think that a lot of this "support the team away from sixfields" is from people who just want a good day on the p!ss (don't we all) and it conveniently fits into their plans. Not for me though, I won't follow the city away or home for the first time since 1986. Fuck football, fuck SISU, fuck leaving Highfield Road, fuck Bryan Richardson, McGinnity et all you are all responsible, not just SISU.
The time is for AFC Coventry, if it were possible for future games, don't give your 100 quid to the day... Put it into a kitty that will shape a more sustainable future. The SBT has shown it is more than just a name, there are outlets and opportunities
