They still hold the lease on the stadium don’t they?To let bygones be bygones?
Or does the generation of councillors who showed such disdain for the club have to have moved on?
Rachel Lancaster spoke with such pride about the club at the Lord Mayors service and it seemed genuine
100%I've had mixed feelings about this since Pete started the thread.
I'm not sure the council ever hated the Club itself and it was more feck SISU at all costs. The Club ended up being a casualty of their fight with Joy, Fisher and their posse of lawyers. That's not to say they aren't without blame. The actions of Maton, Duggins and Lucas in particular were disgraceful but it was years ago and it's time too move on or you end up bitter and twisted.
People in councils change and they have now offered the club "Freedom of the City" Actions speak louder than words and even if they did apologise there would be plenty of people who would say it was a political move rather than a heartfelt apology.
Guess it depends somewhat of where it could leave them legally, should of just stayed out of it all,in the past all that between, then now.Agree with this party, but until there's an apology I don't think anyone will truly forgive that smug bastard Maton
Did you never believe Elton John then? For some reason sorry really does seem to be the hardest word
He’s an old school politicianJust read Duggins statement that's part of the press release for the Memorial park shin dig, genuinely sickening. The man's a fucking sociopath.
Doug doesn't have the bad history we do with them. Good that he has a good relationship, we need that. Doesn't mean we have to forget their part in what we've been through. Given where we are now though, I'm willing to forgive and move forward.

Don’t be silly! You know what the great Coventry public is like-pin a red rosette on a wheelie bin and they’ll vote for it.7th May, let's get rid of this fuckin Council, time for change.

Wasps good business model though.....Chief self serving knobhead, not one tweet about our promotion. Needs a public apology for all the suffering and wasted public moneyView attachment 50911

Seems like the replies you are getting state that for 99.9 % of us, it will be some time. Maybe just before hell freezes over.To let bygones be bygones?

Perhaps then, but not when he said he don't let your son go down on me.Did you never believe Elton John then?
Important to seperate what is the club and what was SISU (in owning the club at that time). To let bygones be bygones?

I’m sure there’s a more apt name for Duggins, using around four lettersHe’s an old school politician

SISU specialise in buying distressed assests, and saw the club as the key to the real asset, the stadium. Seems to me the council were against SISU to a fault, but at the same time SISU was driving a wedge between the club and everything around it so no one is without fault. It was just a fucking mess.
Who knows what would have happened if SISU had got the stadium, doubt the council knew, but clearly enough of the councillors believed SISU were only in for their own profit generation.
It truly was a fucking mess, but my point was framing it as the club vs council, when it was SISU vs the council. Also important to note the crippling rent we had to pay for the stadium, the non negotiable stance taken by the council and the backing out on an agreement that the stadium would only be held in a trust until the club was in a position to pay back the money loaned.
I also seem to remember (maybe @Grendal can help here) that the council took all of the money Tesco paid for the land-again instead of sharing (or indeed giving) it as the club paid for the land.
Not saying SISU were innocent in this btw but there were so many times greed got in the way of supporting the city’s football club.
They probably got them free along with their match ticketsI just hope all those Wasps fan converts, enjoy polishing their car with those shirts they bought.
Ultimately, once SISU were out of frame, there was no reason for annimosity.

The council refused anyone but Sisu to buy the club and forced them into the stadium
Shouldve been cancelled years ago thenHes actually had a season ticket for years
