You were not happy first season back in championship when we passed the balls about. Not weird, I’ve said before I would prioritise physicality over technical attributes.
We stayed up comfortably

In the article itself it states we are prioritising athletic players for midfield. Just mentions club will look at Hackney if Boro stay down. Think he’s clearly a player Lampard ratesI agree, but in the centre of midfield ie the most physically demanding part of the pitch where you’re fighting for possession, I’d prioritise an athlete rather than a technician.

I've never understood the oft-repeated bollocks about recruiting athletes and then attempting to teach them how to play football.Spurs can't keep the ball despite spending about a billion pounds, basically![]()
You just need to look at Middlesbrough's recent results without him.Is it just me who doesn't think he's that good?
clearly haven’t watched much of Hackney thenImagine a midfield of Grimes and Hackney,
Grimes, passes to Hackney, passes to Grimes, back to Hackney. Holds it....holds it...........holds it

We ain’t signing Hackney, it just isn’t happening.
I can’t see Doug spending £25m on a player because that’s what Boro will expect

Don’t get why people (including Boro fans) think that when they accepted £20m last summer and he’s got a year less left on his contract now
just extend the last 2 min at Blackburn over a whole season. 38 pts, stay up on GD, we go again.Imagine a midfield of Grimes and Hackney,

Already 28 so will have limited resale value. I know we don't do everything based off resale value but I would be surprised if we went in for Gus.Anyone curious we may go for Hamer? Fairly cheap, experienced the prem and loves us. No idea if Frank likes him but it does feel like an easy signing now and he’s defo good enough.
Accepted £20m last summer. Now he only has 1 year left on his deal. Can’t see us going for Hackney. They’ll want too much for him.
I think we’ll still make foreign signings etc
Can only see it if he was very cheap.Already 28 so will have limited resale value. I know we don't do everything based off resale value but I would be surprised if we went in for Gus.
There’s zero chance of us signing Hamer ffs.

We played the ball really well technically and I for one was never worriedNo we didn’t. Urban myth.
For the majority of that season we looked and played like a relegation team. A strong finish flattered us but we were not comfortable at all.
Taking a punt is not the way the recruitment team usually operate, having said that not everything comes off and the acquisitions of Brau, Binks, Raphael, KKH and Bassette haven't been successful, though I wouldn't write KKH, Brau or Raphael off yet.Wouldn't be surprised if we went for Hamer, sort out his weight and diet issues he would be a great signing. It's the kind of calculated gamble we probably need to take.

In the post match video on the pitch Doug King had what looked an encouraging word with Markelo. Perhaps there is more to come from him. He’s looked good in cameos. Frank knows better than anyone what the Premier League is like. The type of play and players we will need, who fits the bill, who could step up and play a part, or couldn’t. It’s the sadness in all this that we will be saying goodbye to players who got us here, but the D players will be as realistic about that fact as anyone
If he was available for the reported 6 mil then I'd say yes. He's played 36 games this season 6 goals & 12 assists isn't too shabby for a lower half team.Already 28 so will have limited resale value. I know we don't do everything based off resale value but I would be surprised if we went in for Gus.
As good as Onyeka has been, there’s been times where his technicality is a little bit inaccurate. Whilst the athleticism of the squad needs to improve, we’d struggle to score if we had. a team of Onyeka’s.Not weird, I’ve said before I would prioritise physicality over technical attributes.
See the article I posted about Spurs for why that might not be the smartest move. Athletes are good at athletics and we are playing football. Giving the ball away every five seconds won’t do us any favours trying to stay up.
He’s a great dribbler with poor defensive stats. My assumption is that they want to take the player, coach him defensively and we potentially have a v good wide player on the books.I am intrigued about markelo , as of today on the face of it , it seems a weird signing .
Not sure wether the club are trying to flip and make a small profit within a year or what ? Did he have huge interest ?
We will see
Or Woolfenden, Esse, Yang, Markelo. More misses than hits since the first batch of signings really.
