That's makes little sense with Simms on the bench, especially with a World Cup looming.
But I do think Haji has issues with his conditioning and raising his fitness level. He's not the fittest or most athletic which doesn't help at all.

Still hoping to have a proper look at Markelo before the end of the season. Another cameo role today in a game in which EMC was well short of his best. Might be in the minority here but still think Markelo might have something about him, let’s see. Honourable mention to Bidders who put a greater shift in on the touchline than some of the players

When Rudoni took that free kick early on and dragged it wide, when the choice which he'd choose probably 19 times out of 20 would be to put it in the box, set the tone for me. I thought to myself this is the sort of attitude we've got today.

Thought his cameo against Preston was it he put some great crosses in, less so today. He’s played right side most of his career and his highlights had him cutting in and scoring so would like to see him in his proper position before judging but tbh five minutes here and there suggests he’s not doing it in training for Lampard to want him on the pitch.

He didn’t hold the right. He drifted in leaving the space for MVE to exploit. I thought BTA was poor but he didn’t play wide right.

BTA has contributed 12 goals in team that will be promoted to the Premier league. BTA stepped up when Rudoni was unavailable. BTA is one of our best pressers in a team that presses.

BTA deserves a 0 for the air shot second half with the goal gaping. No idea what he tried to do but it looked like a poor man's attempt at a DiCanio when a simple side foot would have done it.

The lack of width, playing against a low block, killed us. We really missed Saka’s width and work rate and BTA should have been hooked at half time.
I flew 10 hours to watch that. Now I have to fly back today. The Wrexham performance better be an improvement

Rushworth is a great keeper but showed why he isn't in the England reckoning. His distribution is extremely erratic - once again he booted the ball straight out of play at kick off, as he so often does. And he was extremely fortunate not to concede in the first half when he gifted the ball to a striker, with another in attendance. Fortunately, he is good at making tackles.
He slowed the game down in the first half (shades of Arsenal). Why?
He's a huge, huge talent, but he really needs to work on aspects of his game.
FTT's form has really dipped. Is he exhausted? Work needed on his fitness over the summer? Is his lack of game time in the first half of the season having an impact?
BTA is a great player, but he doesn't fit the Sakamoto role. He kept drifting infield, meaning we were too narrow. On the other wing, EMC was marked out of the game by Fusire, although I thought Markello did better against him.
MVE needs to learn to get back more quickly when we lose the ball (Dabo, although less skilled, was very good at that). He'll leave us very vulnerable in the PL if he doesn't get back down the pitch more quickly. He was our best attacking threat though.
Wright - another insipid performance. Simms offered a lot more when he came on, but then lacked the composure / skill to convert chances. We Will need a conventional striker who can bully defences and take chances. That is not going to be easy to find.
Rudoni was bizarre. Against Derby he occupied the spaces between the lines of defence brilliantly. Yesterday, he didn't (same against Hull).
Grimes remains pure class, but can only do so much on the pitch.
Overall, it was a bizarre performance, in reality extremely complacent (as some of us predicted in the match thread). Hopefully, we can relax now, but if we play like that then Friday could be another disappointment. Blackburn need a win, which will help, but a good tactic from them will be a low block and breaking at pace. The very large away crowd could get impatient, which will aid them. A point is far from guaranteed unless we up the game a lot.
We are so much better when we start with real intensity (e.g vs Middlesbrough). That must be the plan on Friday, surely?

Why would you be in the minority? In the very little we've seen of him, he's done nothing wrong and shown some flashes of great ability. Looks properly quick too.
Wright,BTA and onyeka were absolutely terrible yesterday.BTA is fucking terrible in that position I probably would of preferred to see him play upfront than wherever he was supposed to be playing yesterday. We missed Saka yesterday there was absolutely no outlet on the right Rudoni needs to stay in between the lines not drifting out he's the only one than can head a football as for Wright utter dog shit,Simms offered more when he came on but couldn't finish a cup of tea.Onyeka like I've said before that is why he is on loan to us and not playing for Brentford. We need a massive recruitment from now until the start of next season to have any chance of staying there.I also think that Ipswich will now pip us for the title,No goals in two games and one of them teams was the worst ever championship team,very underwhelming yesterday even the crowd were poor.

Lots of Onyeka criticism again. Careful that’s not allowed.
Starting BTA on the wing was a bad call. I’m going to assume he was under instruction to drift inside to create space for MVE, but MVE works best when he has someone to play off and create space for crossing situations.
It also meant we had nobody impactful to bring on at 10 when Rudoni tired - I still don’t see Eccles as a 10, especially in a game where creativity is needed like yesterday.

Simms was a better outlet when he came on, but his finishing was off again.

Why?
He's been an amazing signing and I'd say a major reason why we got our season back on track, but he's been poor last 2 or 3 games.
Don't see anyone arguing with that.

Onyeka looks knackered. If there was ever a game to try and get Torp back into the swing of things, you'd have thought this was that game.

Wright is clearly not fit. He was holding his groin in the first half and not moving right for much of the half. He barely left the ground for attempted headers. And couldn't get his leg swinging properly for an attempted volley. Another selection mistake.
Non of the subs really did anything wrong, apart from Simms's finishing, but the game was drifting by the time they came on. Simms, Esse (or Markelo) and Torp should have started the game.
It was nice to see that Adaramola is a real person and not just a myth. Although I did a double take thinking that Norton-Cuffy was playing when I saw him.

As some have already alluded to, in spite of a poor performance on Monday, Torp should have been given the nod over BTA yesterday. Although he lacks a physical presence he can unlock defences with his passing ability and that was just what was needed yesterday.

Not sure he could have side footed it due to height it arrived. However, he could have controlled it first. On another day though we might be talking about a brilliant goal and technique - a split second difference.

The only piece of skill for me was Eccles header that just went past the upright. He had to work really hard to get it even where it went and IMHO is the best headerer of the ball in the club. He anticipates it, attacks it and then by design steers it where he wants it to go. You compare that to Simms or Wright who have no anticipation, or plan 'b' incase of a deflection. Hate attacking it because they are not natural headerers of a ball and if by miracle, they make contact, if it lands on target it is usually by pure luck. If Eccles was a few inches taller he would make a marvelous Centre forward. Not Prem standard but he'd get a hatful in the lower leagues.

He was and he’s now on a poor run of form. In fairness I wouldn’t have started him yesterday as we didn’t need what he offers.
‘Got salty’ - trying to say hip, nice - very Brent-esque. And no I didn’t, as ultimately it wasn’t an outlier of an opinion, I just called it early.
I have no issues with debate, it’s literally the point of a forum.
