He will. And we should all hope he does. I expect quite a few 10-15m signings. Maybe 4-5
I think putting eggs into that particular basket is too risky. For one, there is extra competition due to WC exposure. You also risk having left it too late if you miss out on the player, plus a lot of players are knackered from having not had a proper summer break, leaving them having iffy starts to next season, which we can't afford. You also have the added lack of [re-season/bonding for the player.or wait to see if there are players available from WC like we Idid with Hadji & Chippo?
I am thinking only 1 or 2 players maybe from WC & I would prefer us to get signings sorted asapI think putting eggs into that particular basket is too risky. No chance. If he's going to a promoted team it will be us but I think the most likely outcome is he becomes number 1 at Brighton.Nixon … Ipsw set to compete with Cov for Rushworth
Rushworth ain't a c**t, to join Ipswich you have to be either a diving cheating c**t or a diving cheating headband wearing c**t, Rushy is neither lol, nixon talks more shite then starmerNixon … Ipsw set to compete with Cov for Rushworth

No time for sentimentAll of the current regular first team picks will be dreaming of playing in the PL for us next season. It seems so harsh to burst a few bubbles
We may well be but we are competing in a much bigger pond from next season. I doubt we get too many players in that early. Pre-season probably wont start til mid July anyway. We need to be on the phone to agents today. Sooner we get deals done the better. Wouldn't be surprised if a few players with contracts expiring in June come in ASAP to bed in

We will make more than 5 lolI’m slightly worried about expectations to be honest. I think we’ll make five new signings, but nothing above that.
Alternatively they might be thinking they need to up their game and take it to the next level to be able to get the opportunity to play PL football next season. All of the current regular first team picks will be dreaming of playing in the PL for us next season. They have given him enough loans so why would they let another club in the same division get the benefit of him for a season? For a start he would miss the 2 games against them. Their whole model is finding new talent and building them up to play in the first team. Not questioning the accuracy of those stories, or Rushworth's ability to be a #1 in the Prem, but it does seem a slightly odd strategy for a club with Brighton's resources and long term planning to go into a season with a 25 yo in goal who has never played in the Premier League or even a minute for their first team.
If I were in their shoes I'd either get him on a long term deal and loan him to us again to get a year of Prem football under his belt (and likely a busy one at that), or else flog him to us with a first dibs buy back clause like Man City do (which would likely help balance the books too).

If it was any other position than keeper I'd think the same, but for me given that you can't rotate a younger keeper out as easily if they are having a rough spell, the exaggerated impact if they do have an off day, and the fact they tend to peak later in their careers so you can afford to take your time with development, I'd be more cautious. They have given him enough loans so why would they let another club in the same division get the benefit of him for a season? I can guarantee he wont be leaving to anybody on loan. Either he becomes their number one or he asks to leave and they cash in with a huge offerIf it was any other position than keeper I'd think the same, but for me given that you can't rotate a younger keeper out as easily if they are having a rough spell, the exaggerated impact if they do have an off day, and the fact they tend to peak later in their careers so you can afford to take your time with development, I'd be more cautious.
Can see Brighton threw Verbruggen straight in at 21 after 20 odd games for Anderlecht and that didn't go too badly, so clearly they see it differently!
i think we will. A good season in the championship does not equate to Brighton's number 1. He will jump to the premier league and there is no reason if the player also wants it, that should be us. Any other top goalie will cost more than him. Rushworth is not proven in the premier league yet, but we rate him.I don't see us signing Rushworth, he'll either be Brighton number one or go to someone bigger/better than us.
If Brighton dont want to sell they wont they have no pressure, Rushworth might want to come back but if he starts as Brighton number one next season it will all be quickly forgotten, he will still have his time here but we will be his past then. Brighton hold all the power they did it with Leeds and Ben Whitei think we will. A good season in the championship does not equate to Brighton's number 1. He'll have a budget fixed for sure. Before we start all of the players will get a promotion increase so the wage bill might well double overnight. If he invests say £30m he'll be in for a large wad. We will write off the transfers over the length of the contracts but we'd still need to find the initial cash. We also couldn't be certain of the cash flow beyond next year and a para payment to fund those transfer fees. He'll also want to cover some of the existing debt and perhaps to pay down a chunk of the stadium so I'm with you and we certainly won't do a Sunderland. We could attract new investment but it would come at a heavy cost in terms of control of the club.I’m slightly worried about expectations to be honest. It’s painful, but I think King will be thinking over a 5 year plan, which will hopefully include some yo-yoing. That’s why I’m concerned about the expectations on hereHe'll have a budget fixed for sure. Yeah, that might well be the case. We’ll have to be prepared for that as fans. Hence the expectations. I’m not saying it will be fun, but to stay up we’ll have to work out how to get more from the resources we got. People need to realise the whole team isn’t going to completely flip.If we only make 5 signings we’ll finish on 10 points
Definitely agree with thisCentre forward and keeper are key. Without doing a good job on those it doesn't matter what the rest of recruitment looks like, you can't underachieve in those two positions in the Prem and expect to win games.
