The thing is Pompey need something out of Boro - they are at the bottom 3 - they have something to play for - my prediction 1 - 1 93 minute equaliser for pompey
You know what, I wouldn't be surprised if all the teams immediately below us dropped points.

Obviously Norwich have a great chance against their local rivals, Ipswich. Boro have been really wobbling and Pompey are desperate for points, so I think that maybe Pompey can sneak something out of that game.

Southampton play Derby and Derby are desperate for points too, to keep their hopes alive. I can well see Derby getting a draw there. Certainly a possibility at least.

Hull are away at Sheff Utd and again that could easily end up in a draw and more dropped points for them as well.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if Boro, Ipswich, Hull and Southampton all drop points.

Leaving us on cloud 9.

They haven't won at home since the end of January. In that time they've drawn to Leicester, Oxford and Bristol City and lost to Charlton.

Pompey on a poor run, but Middlesbrough not doing much better!
A draw will do!

Hellberg swore in his prematch conference saying they ‘just want to win the fucking game’… full head loss imo.

Portsmouth have 2 chances to promote us

If we win and Norwich beat Ipswich the following can happen before we play again

Portsmouth get a win or draw at Middlesbrough we will be up no matter what

Portsmouth beat Ipswich on Tuesday at Fratton Park

Basically, if Middlesbrough win today the most points they can get is 87

If Ipswich lose their next 2 games the most they can get is 87

Next weekend Ipswich play Middlesbrough so only one can get to 87 points

I don't know, it seems like everyone is begging to give Ipswich promotion. I wouldn't be that surprised to see 'Boro have another wobble.
Keep an eye out for Southampton…

Ipswich have been in a somewhat false position all season, particularly this half of the season. Playing Boro at home towards the end of the season was always a big advantage for them. Boro’s home was always an issue too, they’re still at 1.8 ppg which is not good enough for automatic promotion and this has let them down.

On the home form point, it’s why I was confident we wouldn’t bottle it because we’ve kept up the run rate to hit 50+ points at home.

The ref. for the Norwich Ipswich game Anthony Backhouse remember him when we played home to Ipswich Hagi Wright no pen. He has been in charge of 5 Ipswich games and they have lost none (suprise).Norwich have not lost at home to them in the last 10 games. With him in charge odds on they will.

EFL doing everything they can to help.
If they are losing it will be abandoned.

I would quite like Ipswich to lose out at pretty much anyone's expense (except for Wrexham).

Not that it matters whatsoever, but I'm still a bit annoyed we rolled over for them.

So what do we actauly want from the Boro game.

promotion today or drag it out till we are in front of a crowd ?
In the minority it seems but I’d rather us get promoted by beating (or drawing with) Blackburn. We’re already up, there is no jeopardy and the moment would be better if we confirm it at full time of a match as opposed to a few hours after everyone has gone home.

@Ipad Boro can you confirm whether your ridiculous excuse for a football club is finally going to do the right thing this year? 2026 has seen you fuck everything else up, just give me this please.
We've literally done just about everything in our power to get you up, to ask for more would be churlish and ungrateful in the extreme?

Quite aside from handing you the customary 6 points, we've had the good grace to take 4 points off Saints, 3 points off Millwall, 3 points off Hull and 3 to date off Ipswich (could yet be more) whilst at the same time throwing away points we could have had ourselves on a regular basis, and mainly to the crap down the bottom of the league so it won't affect yourselves except to the positive?

There honestly isn't a lot more we could do. 😛

It's a definite pen regardless of first look. Knees in his face
No, his knee hits his own arm. What convinced you is the expression on the Ipswich player's face.

If you needed any more suggestion that the league wants Ipswich to win promotion, here's the tables BEFORE TODAY about who has received the most penalties (and you can increase Ipswich's lead on the second placed team to THREE pennas now, despite playing a game and a half less) and who has had the most penalties given against them (and they're a couple of conceded penalties clear of the second placed team again) despite generally receiving little cards comparatively and playing fairly cleanly, Hackney's one escaped sending off excepted.

Hmmm.... Screenshot_20260411_125617_Chrome.jpg Screenshot_20260411_125502_Chrome.jpg
