Certs
Rushworth

Possible
EMC

I think Championship Player of the season will be between Grimes and Hackney

I think Grimes might be overlooked even though he shouldn't be

Reckon Rushworth definite, EMC is very likely too. MVE has a very good chance because of sheer number of assists from RB. Thomas should get in too.

I would laugh if Boro get more of their players included than us!

Rushworth is a dead cert, I agree Grimes should be but I think he gets overlooked. Bobby Thomas might get the nod.

I'm not sure on the others - for example if they only pick one striker then Viponick will be in ahead of Wright.

Our own fans overlook grimes at times to be fair

Always talk of him having a quiet game or being too deep when in reality he has had yet another excellent game

Who picks the team of the season? Jobe Bellingham was an odd choice
The EFL Team of the Season is selected annually to honor the standout performers from the Championship, League One, and League Two. It is calculated by a judging panel based on overall performance, consistency, and impact on pitch success, selecting top players for each position, rather than a specific formation.
The English Football League +2
Key Aspects of Selection:
  • Performance Metrics: Judges evaluate players based on goals, assists, clean sheets, and consistent high-level performance throughout the league campaign.
  • Selection Panel: The team is curated by a panel of experts, often in collaboration with EFL partners like Vertu Motors, highlighting the best 11 players per division.
  • Process: The process considers overall contributions to team success, meaning standout players from top-performing clubs are frequently featured.
  • Timing: The teams are typically revealed at the end of the season, alongside the Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards.

The selection is not limited to a rigid formation, focusing instead on assembling the best eleven players in their respective positions based on their performance over the whole season.

There’s a story I’ve head on a few podcasts about the 1997/98 PL End of Season Awards dinner. Dion was up for player of the year (joint top goal scorer), Huckerby (Young player of the year nominee) and Oggy was getting a lifetime achievement award.

Before the awards started, a montage video of all the season’s best moments played. There was zero footage of any Coventry goal/ save. Apparently Strachan said to the trio - “Right lads, let’s leave”

5 goals and 7 assists in 3314 minutes versus
7 goals and 5 assists in 1841 minutes

one is Jack Rudoni, and the other is the championships best player in hayden hackney
one of them played half of those minutes with an injury

To be fair, they play in midfield but their roles are completely different. Rudoni is a 10, Hackney is an 8, you would expect Rudoni to score and assist more. They are both class acts.

They are, but I still wouldn't have him in our midfield ahead of Grimes, Onyeka and Rudoni. He'd improve the bench with Torp, Eccles and Allen.

Since they’re the best team in the league, the Championship’s best 11 should surely be a clean sweep of Middlesborough players…

I’d like us to try to sign Hackney next season but it’s v unlikely. Established Prem teams will be watching keenly.

I heard the one Hucks did one with Jim Brown... they only stayed because of Oggy's award.
