Esse needs to go again to another champ side where he’s integrated during pre-season. He looks very raw but 2 goals and a woodwork strike in 10 appearances for us (many as sub) show that he can clearly do something at this level. But we’re clearly not going to sign him if we go up.

He earnt a top flight move and commanded a hefty fee thanks to his performances in the Championship.

He needs to learn discipline, and will no doubt get a good Championship loan next year where he'll get the opportunity to do that.

Lots of players have half a season of decent performances and then drop off. I just don’t think any champ side would give him the minutes based on what he is now, what he was a year ago isn’t really relevant. Either Millwall were desperate or he has regressed because right now he’s useless imo.

He's hardly useless.

He's a very useful impact sub for us, and would play a larger part for other teams, no doubt.

He also had over 60 apps over three seasons for Millwall, pretty good involvement for such a young player. Hardly a half-season-wonder.

I'll be very surprised if he's not making a significant contribution for someone in the Championship next season.

Esse is one of those players who is so unpredictable even to him self. He needs to figure out how to control his game. As has bags of speed and talent. Just needs to apply it better

Is he? I don’t think he’s had much impact at all, o could count on one hand the moments he’s had. Like I say game of opinions.

well he’s scored some crucial goals so that’s all that matters

His signing also gave us a chance to rest/rotate Sakamoto who’s form massively improved because of it.

For 20 years old i think Esse is pretty good. He's currently with the England U21s btw.
