Statement signings if we go up? (9 Viewers)

Just can't agree. Think some just lose the plot any time a flick or take on doesn't come off and label it as showboating etc
But when you do a flick and it's totally unnecessary then there is a legitimate claim it's showboating. And when you do it half a dozen times a game or more, then that's a pretty strong argument.

Esse just needs to learn some tactical discipline. He's all the talent, and his work-rate seems fine, he just doesn't stick to where he needs to be or necessarily make the right choices.

He's raw, in other words.

I guess we hoped he'd be first choice mainstay until the end of the season, so I suppose it's a bit disappointing that he won't be, but he's a great player to bring on. Sometimes a wildcard is what you need.

Ya agreed. Great option to have and only gonna get better

Look at our results since he came in. Not putting them down to him individually but it's clear the extra wing options have helped us so there is nothing to moan about

Esse has been a big disappointment. Really thought he’d be a big player for us but his impact has been extremely limited.
He scored 2 big goals that confirmed 3pts in each gake he scored, he’s pushed Sakamoto to be better which has kept himself out of the team, he has been good when called on from the bench, he will be needed more this season

I think that's a pretty basic view of his limitations if I'm honest.

Unsure about how much you've watched him play but his decision making on the ball is generally quite poor - which largely comes from a lack of experience. And it's not just the crap flicks which barely ever come off.

He regularly runs himself into trouble leading the ball being overturned or momentum being lost, his positioning is more often than not all over the place, his movement isn't great and he'll regularly be drawn to the ball rather than look to open up space by making a run.

Talent isn't really his issue, he clearly has a lot of potential but I don't really see how his time here can be called anything less than disappointing.

You knew his age before he signed though. Disappointment comes from unrealistic expectations

He's doing fine and like sick boy said he's pushing saka to better

If he gets over the line thats good.

Not sure I'd be spending what we'd need to to bring him in permanently though.

Esse would be great in five a side but he miles off the level required for a pro at this level.

No that's a different situation entirely. I'm just saying as a loan he's been good

That said he's young , talented and coached know him best. If he's available for a bargain fee then I trust the recruitment team.

What would you consider a bargain fee

I think the fact he’s only got a year left might work against him tbf. I’d expect us to prioritise those who only have a year left for sales: him, Lats, Sakamoto might all be told they can go for a low fee if they aren’t in our plans.
Might be blinded by fondness for Tats but I'd love to see him given a chance in the Prem. I just have a feeling him drawing so many fouls might be a real bonus to us. I mean it'll be a treat for him not to have some hairy arsed Champ defender hacking him to bits for 90 mins with no VAR. Got to be a decent option off the bench at the least considering he's keeping Esse out at the moment

Not a statement signing but does anybody know anything about the young lad at norwich Toure .

Looks a real prospect

Not sure really

He seems highly rated at palace so maybe 5-7m?

Which already suggests that his value is less than half what he was originally valued at by Palace

I always thought it odd Glasner let him go and then played a 16 year old in his place

I think in the PL, assuming we're to get there, he'd be borderline unusable at the stage of development he's at now.

When you actually read Glasner's comments on him from past interviews his assessment more or less reflects mine - pretty much saying as a player he doesn't really have a great grasp of the basics and his decision making on the ball is sorely lacking.

He needs to put in a lot of work to get those fundementals in place before he's ready to make the step up.

Glasner has a lot of flaws as a manager. Not sure I'd take his word as gospel on much.

Think he's a good talent for a 20 year old tbh. Not sure where he will peak but it will clearly be a top second tier player as a minimum. Wish he'd been here all season, Sakamoto can have spells where he really falls off, i think its quite clear a lot of that was due to being overused as he's been pretty consistently good since Esse came in and was able to share more minutes with him.

You maybe surprised.
