You think he did very well whereas I don't think he had a particularly good game. It's just a difference of opinion

No need to paint it up as going to lengths to put down a player as if I have an agenda against him
Just disappointed in you trying to pick fault in player when we had a great result yesterday and a player in a great run of form

I forgive you for saying Frank lampard would be a disaster and to mark your words so hopefully one day you will find it in your heart to forgive me

Said it before. Looks like he’s playing in jeans, but scores goals. Can’t complain. Been putting fighting shifts in lately as well.

Fair play this got me hahaha.

It’s the perfect analogy for some of his first touches. If he started to wear boot cuts I think he’d improve his game no end.

Could have had 2 assists with great hold up play. That's the difference.
Difference between what?

Feel like the overly pro Simms guys are doing it cos they dislike wright perhaps?

I'm weird I like them both ! Want both of them to be physical monsters week in week out. Like drogba. Not just the odd flicks but total 90 mins dominance if possible.

I’m happy with them both scoring goals.

Stop criticising our players.

Simms and Wright will both always score goals in the championship which is great for us. But neither have great all round play - Wright is better than Simms. We’ve started crediting Simms with things that are absolute basics such as the flick on for Esse. I’m constantly amazed how poor both Wright and Simms first touches are.

Agreed on that

But both have the attributes to be so much better.

That doesn't mean they are bad players now. As they are it is enough to lead us to prem I have said it many times but if they can both put it about more and lead the line more forcibly we could do it comfortably

Absolutely. Wright was in the correct frame of mind yesterday. They are both more than a handful in that mode. But the problems they caused were balls over the top where they can pressure centre halves. In to feet and they are less effective.

My issue isn't what they can't do.
It's what they can do but don't, at least not consistently.
They both have extended spells where they are awful and invite the criticism they get.

Hopefully Haji is coming into some form after his cameo yesterday, and with Ellis on a decent run it's just what we need for the run in.

Agree. Consistency is what makes the Gyokereses and Grimeses of the world great. We often take them for granted and when things tail off a little (as has for Grimes a little over the last couple of games) it really shows in our overall performance and results. With Wright and Simms, I hope yesterday’s performances can be maintained until May. We need it.

Have felt from day one that Simms has the potential to be a tremendous striker, but frustratingly he's only shown it in patches. During our poor run I had basically started to give up on him, but in the last few weeks (not just last night but in his various short appearances off the bench) I think we've seen him turning a corner. Some great all round play, and unlucky not to have some goals as reward.

Playing as a lone centre forward at this kind of level is unbelievably difficult, he's still only 25 and there are definite signs that Ellis is growing more and more into the role. Not there yet, but he could be one or two steps away from being awesome!

I think he will leave in the summer, but we will get a good fee for him!

I predict circa £5m

He was very good last night, showed a lot of energy and looks good if he can get on the ball and drive forward. Lampard seems to agree with you and has given him a lot of credit.

Simms has grown on me this season , hes a better all round footballer today than he was in his first season where he scored a couple more .. Not sure if frank an get more out of him but his contribution this season has been solid

Hes certainly played his part, double figures in a promotion winning team is really good going.

Not sure what Lampard's plans are with Simms if we go up, but always had a feeling he'd would strangely suit the Premier League as he seems an awkward player to play against.
Shown in the Man United and Wolves games in that cup run he can give defenders at that level a really hard time.

There was 1battle he had on the edge of the area and he couldn't get the shot away as he was being locked illegally by the defender,so bloody annoying from the ref, but you can't have two pens in a game can you.

He started a little slowly last night, in part I think because BTA wasn't quite finding the right spaces, starving of him of the ball. But he grew into the game, as did BTA, and in the second half was causing real problems for the defence, especially late on. His first touch has noticeably improved. He's a real asset to us.

Simms did well last night dont you think G!

As a back up to wright at this level he’s fine. Hopefully we can move him for a decent fee in the summer.
