Why would he do that when Haji has to sign first, just let things run their course,no need to shove him along just yet.then he needs to move

I thought they both did well when they came on last nightHim and Eccles are doing well with in their ‘finishers’ role. Simms heading/hold up play is so much better compared to last year. Reckon he’ll grab some goals before seasons out as well
I mean, again, that is a separate debate. Yes, I do think Simms hold up play suits us better away from home. We have less possession away from home so that suits our style better (not that detached). Either way, that isn’t really anything to do with ‘moving him on’ as you mentioned, but happy to have that different debate. In the match thread you stated Simms should be starting away games which given his dire efforts the last game he started seems rather detached from reality
Literally state in the op that it’s an odd acknowledgement. 10 goals in a season for the time played is an impressive return for the season.Seems strange to single out Simms for praise after last night’s game, but even stranger to be singling him out for his overall performances this season.
I agree. Neither would be a starter if we made it to the PL.In reality wright isn’t great and Simms is terrible but done his best
I think some of his critics from last season are now priced in to downplaying his contribution this year, which as you say has been very good.Literally state in the op that it’s an odd acknowledgement. 10 goals in a season for the time played is an impressive return for the season.
He has 10 goals which deserves praiseI think some of his critics from last season are now priced in to downplaying his contribution this year, which as you say has been very good.
To be fair I don't think Parks should be startingIm just stating what I think is the actual reality
The OP spent most of last nights match thread whining about Haji Wright and that Simms should be starting. Bit like you really.
I think his goals have outperformed his ability having said that he seems to have a knack of scoring goals and surprising us, he does or rather did look a bit of a donkey but I would think he is down the pecking order because Frank sees he has better players to play in that position, look at Asante ( not with short memories) he looked a massive mistake but fair play to him he started to score consistently but obviously got injured whereas Simms starts to score more regularly and 2 managers decide they want someone else to play instead of him, so lets leave the decision up to the most informed ie the manager and if he decides to play him lets hope he goes all guns blazing to show he can do it on a regular basis more consistently.Yes, that is what I said haha. You then said he should move on if that’s the case, which seemed a silly statement to me. All players will be frustrated if they’re not in the first team I would presume. Good management helps players see their value as part of a squad + plus a good attitude which Simms has demonstrated. You clearly think this is a Wright vs Simms debate which it is not.
If we do go up we need far better strikers than Simms, Wright and BTA. The gulf in quality between the Championship and the PL is absolutely massive, and even though we are top scorers in this league, our squad won't cut it next season. He's a non physical centre forward without the skill to back that up.
Nice bloke i'm sure but not a great player imo. He's lucky he can float around in a very good team.
He'll be gone in the summer.
Solomon Brandon Michael Clarke Thomas-Asante ......Feck me thats a mouthful |
I don’t think that I would disagree with any of that and tbf I don’t think anything in the original post contradicts it.I think his goals have outperformed his ability having said that he seems to have a knack of scoring goals and surprising us, he does or rather did look a bit of a donkey but I would think he is down the pecking order because Frank sees he has better players to play in that position, look at Asante ( not with short memories) he looked a massive mistake but fair play to him he started to score consistently but obviously got injured whereas Simms starts to score more regularly and 2 managers decide they want someone else to play instead of him, so lets leave the decision up to the most informed ie the manager and if he decides to play him lets hope he goes all guns blazing to show he can do it on a regular basis more consistently.
I will say I am not trying to destroy Simms here I have removed my rose tinted specs, if you disagree thats your perogative
We're not replacing Haji for under £20m probably more. I can't see King throwing money around like Sunderland have this season either and factor in the wages on top, it's a huge risk. Haji will stay if he wants to and if the WC doesn't make him unaffordable for us.If we do go up we need far better strikers than Simms, Wright and BTA. The gulf in quality between the Championship and the PL is absolutely massive, and even though we are top scorers in this league, our squad won't cut it next season.
