I thought we made changes to late, you could see at half time that Eccles was having one of those days and it felt the three in midfield were not progressive enough.

I would like us to have taken off Eccles and brought on Simms and gone two up as they were just defending.

Towards the end I would like us to have really changed it and replaced Grimes with Onyeka just so the players can’t keep cheating and giving it to Grimes.
Frank doesn't do subs..The cov fans can see it, why not Frank?

Yea, said lots of positives. Dominated in every way but was just one of those days when the ball wouldn't go in. Oxford sit in a low block and give very few chances away in their recent matches o we actually created more clear chances than he thought we might do before the match.

However frustrating the game was, especially the speed of getting ball into the box, we still created more than enough to win. We’re just not getting the rub of the green in and around the area, or anywhere near as clinical as we were earlier in the season.

Players confidence looks to have dropped and a load of our fans have just given up. Bizarre as we’re still well in the mix

i assume there's no one left on here who thinks wright is a striker.
he can't head the ball, hold off defenders, or shoot without touching the ball 3 times. oh, and he's PERMANENTLY OFFFUCKINGSIDE.

can we please stick him on the wing where he belongs? or sell him, either is fine by me at the moment. but no more of this striker nonsense, please. it's killing us.

I posted this nearly two months ago; on 12th December to be precise:

. . . after being top for quite a while with a ten point gap, I'm worried that suddenly finding ourselves trailing Middlesborough will cause a loss of confidence and a drop in form that could see us out of the top two. I don't want to see a repeat of what happened under Tony Mowbray.

I got a fair bit of stick for it at the time and some were laughing at me. I bet they're not laughing now.

It's all very depressing ☹️

I don’t get why Onyeka didn’t get some minutes today.

What is the point in signing these players for 15/16 games and they don’t get game time especially someone like the tank.

I've just checked on my Betfair exchange account and there is a market (with only £45k volume traded all season so far) we are 1.14 to make the top Six , obviously decimal odds but 1/86 on if you use fractional odds.

That's an implied probability of 98.9%!

The one thing I would have done today at the end, was to throw Thomas on up front. Just for the last 10 mins.

Oxford were zero threat at that point and they had been winning headers in their own box all day long

I would have just sent Thomas into the box to be a threat, ruffle a few feathers and be something else for their defence to think about

We had nothing to lose. Simms offered nothing when he came on unfortunately.

We were too slow to get the ball into the danger area. We’re literally playing it about. Wouldn’t matter who we had in the box.

I generally agree with Wright playing from a wider position, as it worked for him at Antalyaspor. He seems more of a ‘wide forward’ as such, and not a traditional striker.

I don’t think this will happen under Lampard, though.

Disagree.

We were slow getting it into the box BECAUSE they were winning every header, so we were trying to work it to the byline for cutbacks into the box most of the time , rather than just lump it in.

This was why we were reluctant to just throw high balls in there.

Thomas would have enabled us to do that

We cant slate the team today ..im certainly not. Frustrated isnt the word.

But it happens ....we played well. Lacked vital ingredient luck.
Agree.

The ball was pinging about their 5 yard box quite a bit and it always seemed to fall to them so they could clear the danger.

We weren't good enough, but we lacked that bit of luck too

Agree to disagree. In the last 10mins we should have been peppering that box. It went sideways, forward, back, sideways…. We just didn’t throw the kitchen sink at them.

Watching today you can see the players are not confident they are searching for form. And are looking around for someone to do something to charge the game. . Only one way you get out of this and its hard work and sticking together keeping positive around each other.

15 games, lots of points on offer and a few players to come back in. We got to look forward and get Emc and BTA back in the squad and get the Tank in the 11 to give it everything.

I think we all knew after 70 mins this wasnt going to be our day.

Every 50/50 in their box fell kindly to them. And there was about 15 of them!

Even their defendwrs tried to score an own goal and it hit their keeper who knew about it from point blank. Jeez it was one of those days.

The referee was abysmal. We should have been playing against 9 players.

Totally understand your thinking.

Not sure what that message that would send out though. Hugely disappointing but with 15 games left no need to absolutely panic.

We are floundering for sure. Strangely almost more positive after today than in some other home games recently. Have to say though, Oxford do not look championship standard and its a poor result.

A lot of pressure on us to win today. That's not an excuse. At least we got a clean sheet.
