Frank - we need defenders now! (1 Viewer)

I just feel the lack of confidence in the defence permeates throughout the team, and one premier league midfielder isnt the answer to our prayers. Yes theyre the first (possibly second if the attackers press) line of defence, but none of our back 4 has had a good game in weeks now. MVE - always has to rely on his pace to get back, you can probably count on one hand the number of headers hes made, and always turns back looking for the pass. Hes arguably better bombing forward and taking players on, so why he always does back is a mystery. The other three are just having a mare at the moment. I'm sure tiredness has a huge part to play, but would Wolf be any worse than Thomas or Kitching? I wouldnt have thought so. I've never been a JDS fan, his reading of the game is poor and hes just not up to being a full back in this league.

If we dont stregthen in defence I'm struggling to see any improvement in form in the short term at least.

I think for a club aiming at autos, to have 3 CB and Lati - who has done well but was originally bought in as a DM, it doesn’t show much ambition, and should’ve been an area we strengthened!

I think recently the issue has been the defence has been the first line of defence. There hasn’t really been anyone in front of them trying to break it up.

Grimes has been done on quite a few 1v1 defensive situations last couple of months.

I think Frank is hoping this guy might help the defensive side out, time will tell.

If we can stop the free attacks on our defence it will certainly help having a midfield and hopefully help in attack too, the hole in the midfield has been apparent for a number of years BUT we have somehow got away with it until now

The club has been very good at keeping its transfer dealings quiet in recent months so it's possible that they were looking to recruit defenders during the January window but despite their best efforts, and for reasons we won't be aware of, failed to do so.

Thomas and Kitching were okay when Grimes was good. Not okay when Grimes isn't. Let's hope the new bloke allows Grimes to be good again. I think that's the plan .
If that doesn't work we're fucked.
