Not sure it was my first match but I still remember attending the 2.0 defeat v Leicester at HR in 1976. Weller opened the scoring in the first minute with the electronic scoreboard clock showing 2.59pm.

1-0 v Sheff Weds, October 84. Terry Gibson scored, Oggy saved a penalty. My dad bought me the home shirt before the game and I don't think I took it off for a week. Completely hooked.

December 1976, just turned 8
1-1 v Ipswich
Stood on the Kop with my Dad, right at the top. Don't remember much about the game itself. Do remember the walk across Gosford Park, the smells and just how cold it was.

I'm guessing here sometime in 64-65, not sure who as I guess my mum made him take as some sort of punishment getting out!😉
Dad and my uncle out on the beers while my uncle got freebies for working on Skybluepool.

This was my first match, against Sunderland in the Fifth round of the F.A. Cup in March 1963, the month after my eighth birthday.

Same first game for me, with my grandad who was from South Shields and a lapsed Sunderland fan. It was a month before my 8th birthday, Stretto Boy, so are you enjoying your 70th birthday year???? The 60’s what a great time to be growing up in Coventry - ‘city of skills and opportunities’!

1957/8 cannot remember the game but we got relegated that year because we were in the bottom half of the 3rd Division North and they split the table did the same with the 3rd South and formed the 4 division.Dad had no interest in football then so I went with friends.I got him interested also the son and grandkids and the rest is history.
A name you don't see any longer were Champions that season "Scunthorpe and Lindsey Untied". They dropped the last part after promotion.
StrettoBoy enjoy your retirement and yes you will.Have faith.Your name hints you may come from the village first place i lived many mooms ago.

The first game I can recall going to was one against Everton in the late 1970’s but can’t remember which year.

The first game I can remember attending and the result was the 3-1 win against Crystal Palace when Clive Allen hit the stanchion of the goal from a free kick and the goal wasn’t given.
Think it's prounounced staunshun :D

League Cup replay v Liverpool, lost 0-2.
I went to Anfield for the original game. A coach load of us went from Morris Engines where we worked. I remember being in the Kemlin Rd end, and city fans were louder than the Kop! Great games! We drew (obviously), and, as you rightly say, lost in the replay at HR.
Happy days!

Pretty sure it wasn't but it was one of his first games.

I think it was notable for being Lloyd McGrath's home debut, which came about 6 months after his full debut at The Dell where we lost 8-2!
I've just checked and you are right, Cyrille made his debut 2 weeks before in home game against Newcastle. The game against Sheff Wed was the 1st time I saw Cyrille play for us

And we got a good kicking if I remember rightly.

An Epic night that one and Tommy Hutch had the winner disallowed for something,a headed goal,a rare one.

Would be interested to hear from older posters on their dad/grandad’s first games. Any second hand accounts of people who watched Clarrie Bourton in the 30s or the infamously shite team from 1919-20?

It would’ve been one of these. I used to write little match reports. Amazing that I didn’t end up in a career in sports journalism with writing as good as “No.10 McAllister sneaked a sneaky goal home” 😂

I remember all of these well as these were the years i started going regularly and really getting into it. I have a near photographic memory of the 99/00 season, some of the home performances were fantastic and thinking about it, it was as good as it got for me as a City fan, which is kind of sad, and also the 00/01 relegation season which was just dire. Fabian Wilnis scored the late winner for Ipswich, i knew we were fucked.

Mine was a 1-0 win v Leicester in December 1986. Sure it was with St Gregorys primary school football team!
Don't remember the game being particularly exciting but knew I wanted to go again.

When I first started going with my uncle I held an imaginary microphone and did radio style commentary during games. Would certainly have been a vlogger if the tech had existed

Cov 3-0 Boro, 28th Dec 1996 as a 5 year old.

Sat in the north stand with my dad, grandad and brother. My only memory is it being fucking freezing, having a blanket across our legs and grandad sharing a flask of oxtail soup round at half time.
