Aided by feckin' awful defending. Both sides have given the ball away twice at the back in the first fifteen minutes. Cost Bristol, but Derby's defenders haven't really been any better.

Indeed they do. Hope this convincing win keeps their peckers up, ready to steam into the Tractors.

Furthermore the game isn't for 8 days, giving Derby plenty of time to rest and prepare.

Ipswich meanwhile in those days in between host Preston tomorrow, then travel to Pompey on Tuesday (which also gets that annoying game in hand out of the way)

Unfortunately, these two fixtures look like a nailed on 6 points for Ipswich - you lot saw with your own eyes what Preston had to offer!

Unfortunately you may well be correct.

They're no great shakes away from home and away at Pompey, who have a win and two draws since Arsenal beat them in the cup and they're heavily fancied to get something tomorrow too, so you never know.

But yes, most punters would back them for 2 wins prior to meeting the rams over any other pair of results.

Here's a stat that highlights our season and proves the worth of Rushworth but also shows we give up opportunities fairly easy considering we're top I wouldn't have expected this but it highlights just how poor our defensive game is and how wide open we are and makes some sort of sense around our current form for a top of the table team to own that stat proves we need to be a bit more compact and harder to beat because it's like teams don't even have to work that hard to create chances.

Based on xG on target faced (excl. own goals), Coventry’s Carl Rushworth has prevented more goals than any other goalkeeper in the Championship this season (+6.6 – 32 conceded from 38.6 xG on target).

Rushworth is worth his weight in gold to you and every side needs to rely on their keeper in some games.
It's inevitable that when we don't win against a side lower down the league (basically Bristol and Watford this season more than any other) despite absolutely dominating the game that their keeper has a worldie 🙄

We may have a better defence and midfield than yourselves overall, but as fortune actual forwards and in goal you guys have the edge. Which is why we're in the market for a striker, even with Conway finally hitting some form and Strelec and Sene at long last coming back from injury.

We could well be top scorers in the league since Hellberg came in (though not sure about Derby after tonight though sod them as they've played 13🤣) but even then that's because we don't tend to play with conventional 9's, we most often have wide strikers, who pincer in from the sides, before cutting it back towards midfielders advancing centrally to finish.

Most definitely he is vitally important but it highlights the amount of chances we actually must be giving up for him to have that stat and a team top of the table should be limiting the opposition to bare minimum. There's only so many times your keeper can pull you out of the shit. The whole team need to work harder from the front and prevent the number of shots Rushworth is facing because it will eventually bite us on the backside it's already impacted our recent run of form. It's time we start being a bit more reserved and play a bit of staying compact and hit teams on the break just to build a bit of belief back up. I'll take 1 nil wins every day of the week for the last run of games certainly away from home.

If we'd have conceded those our goal difference would still be the best in the league
