I just don’t know what going on , what with the new signing of another winger, rumours of Rudoni to Brentford and someone coming in from that club.
I’m not a very sophisticated knowledgeable fan but I’m utterly confused as the what we are trying to achieve.
Would be interested in other views .
Thanks

Hello Confused from Tewkesbury, why are up so early?
Hope the river Avon hasn't flooded your town as it so often does.
We're going to move both goals at the CBS out onto the wings in an effort to score more goals than them that's why we are bringing in more wingers.
Hope this clears up the confusion.
I'm back off to bed now.

I will have a view at the END of the transfer window.

Same as when I am in a restaurant I don't leave until I see what they've got for pudding. 😉
Agreed.

I also like to see a player play a few times before judging them.

If a player coming in improves on or is better than what we have and positively impacts our performances & effects getting us results then it’s irrelevant what position they are, no?

It’s a strange scenario, when other areas are crying out for help .
I fear for Mini , as is this loan going to play any part in our promotion push & Saka is now a second half substitute only ?

We may have many experts on here through playing Football Manager but none of us know about the vast majority of the players. Transfers are also not as easy as most people make out. You miss out on most targets you go for.

But this latest signing shows we know hardly anything about what's going on behind the scenes. A €5m signing we haven't heard of before. I know you can't rely on player videos but he certainly looks like a skillful player. Imagine being delighted to see Esse going off then having to face someone similar.

We have other targets. Will have to wait to see if they pay off. But at least the stupid comments about King not putting money into our side should stop for a day or two now.

You just have to wait until Feb 3rd and then look back.

Judging it now would be like going to a concert, leaving 3/4’s through and then complaining they didn’t play their biggest hits !

Clubs track players over differing time frames and target them for differing windows. It’s possible that the club had thought about Markelo for the summer but moved now because either the deal was too good to refuse or more likely they became aware that other clubs were trying to sign him this window.

Unless you’re hoping for Dean Austin to reply to this, id suggest just buckling in and enjoying the wild ride. There is so so much at play absolutely noone here has the full context. Even the so called itk’s had fuck all clue about this new winger coming in or us even in the market for another winger.

Some players are bought with long term planning in mind. Our right wing has Saka approaching 30 and a loan in Esse. That means if you can find a player you think will be good enough you get them in.

Some players are bought with short term impact in mind. Grimes last season and a midfielder this window I’m sure.

There isn’t a set policy, it’s going for the best players available at the best time.

Agreed, not easy, try getting a work permit in Football Manager.

On a serious note, like many can’t really understand the plan at the moment. Maybe been looking at this guy for a while, Minny and Esse coming in because it was thought they couldn’t get him ( price too high then lowered later??? ) Who knows. There is too much emphasis on attack, I actually think we can hold our own in Midfield if the players drop back quicker and more often. We have more than enough to get promoted and I believe we will.

The worry is that there seems no balance to our recruitment now , as so many wingers have been added , without ( at present ) the box to box midfielder that we are missing, plus other areas of concern ?

I refer the gentlemen to my reply of some moments ago.

Nobody knew this signing was on the cards so I don't understand how so many reactions are as if we've got in a winger at the expense of other positions, only one transfer can be on the go at any time and business is now complete. If nothing else happens it's a lopsided window but there's still plenty of time.

I imagine they will be well aware of what we need. Whether we get it over the line or not is the question.

I think the winger has come in as the club felt the deal was right at the time.

It’s not difficult to fix our away form, just stop gifting goals, sort that and we’ll be fine, just looks like we’re adding more attacking players to hopefully give us the 3 goals a game we need to win games

It was the same 2nd half of last season, Norwich (again), Hull, Plymouth, Luton, we can't cope defensively in the game where the opposition attack us. We need a more solid midfield in these type of games

We'd miss Rudi, although we really could do with him hitting his best form. I swear people forgot how we played with BTA in the '10' while he was out and for some reason acted surprised when the midfield was nowhere at Norwich. It was always a pretty suicidal tactic but it worked well for a while.

If it strengthens the squad, I wouldn't be too unhappy at Rudoni going.

Not been working for him for a while here anyway, so if it means getting the players we need in, so be it.

Like him a lot, but that's football.

Our transfer policy has and will always be mostly succession planning under King.

I get the succession planning and that 100% makes sense.

However...we need reinforcements in particular positions for NOW, not the future. In the event of promotion, we're going to rip up what the squad looks like anyway (probably).

I do trust the backroom team to do their jobs and they're generally great though so I'm excited to see this lad.

I agree 100%. I know not everyone was behind the idea but I don’t think King should have blocked the Bamford transfer considering Lampard wanted him.

Wage demands almost certainly. His agent nearly pushed SU too far apparently! That's the problem with "frees", the fee gets absorbed into wages and bonuses, which will appear differently in the accounts but also cause a major headache with the current playing staff.
