Is Wolfie to go down , as our most expensive flop ? (16 Viewers)

After tonight’s debacle & previous games that he COULD have played in , what excuse can we possibly have now for Saturday ?
If he’s NOT playing, why the hell did we buy him ?

This is why you don’t sign players based off one miracle season where his whole team were playing above themselves. Have any of those Ipswich players go on to play at a higher level?

He’s only played about 600 minutes for us so far. He may well get another chance and be an important part of the end of our season.

From what I’ve seen so far he looks a good footballer, but not a particularly physical defender.

If so he needs to get a grip sorry
A bit harsh..

It's only a guess, but his family might not have settled, or his kids could be struggling at school here. If so, he wouldn't be human if that didn't play on his mind..

As I say, it's just a guess. We obviously rated him when we got him, so something has gone wrong somewhere along the line

I guess we will find out at some point.

Honestly it wouldnt surprise me if he came with the notion of being first choice, that one of bobby and kitch would inevitably lose their place very quickly and he’d slot in. Then they both started the season very well (and he’d missed most of pre season with us) and couldnt break through to the team, which was exactly the situation he was in at Ipswich and why he left and so he’s not performing in training because his head has gone.
Listen to one of his post match interviews and i think its clear back then he was frustrated as hell not to be playing, tried to hide it with his words but the tone and body language says it all.

i wouldnt judge him off the performances we’ve seen because they’re isolated around not playing again for ages or playing in a 3 not a 2.

wouldnt surprise me if Lati is out performing him in training because lati always knew he’d be a bit part player and is comfortable with it, wolfie didnt and isnt.

If you are saying he is having mental health problems then 100% that would be harsh and I wouldn't even comment in that way but don't think we are in a position to just accept "struggling to settle". Anyway as I said elsewhere "flop" is unproven and ludicrous

Competition for place's for is not a concept that Frank is buying into.
His use of the squad is lamentable from the owners point of view.
From our POV he hasn't been backed enough, we're crying out for the youth to be let loose on the squad!

Think he was a bit of a panic buy after we failed to get our main target (who was never really available).

Poor strategy to chase Hughes so hard.

Thomas and Kitching have been our established CB partnership for 3 seasons now and when we signed Wolfenden, we had the best defence in the league.

Now that’s changing, perhaps Lampard revisits this again. The premise of this thread is plainly ridiculous and he may find a role at some point.

Agree to an extent, but what's concerning is he can't force his way into the team when others are out of form.

This is what he was signed for; Kitching needs a spell out, so Woolfenden in. Not happened, though.
