Nah, tbh you could win 10-nil on Monday and we'd still be over the moon with this weekend.🤣

The point is, we don't think we're catching you. You do what we do in our away games of late, grind out a result, and the points will keep coming for you. Perhaps not at the rate that you were racking them up earlier in the season, but enough. Plus you might only be 3 points ahead at the mo, but aside from the game in hand now, you have have the biggest gimme going of the Hoodoo game against us AND the massively superior GD which means we'd feasibly need to gain an extra point? So in our minds, wiping off the game at the CBS we need to get 7-10 more points than you in 16 games, depending on your result on Monday. We're very good...but not overhaul you by up to 10 points in a third of a season Good!

Ipswich on the other hand are a different matter entirely. The 5 point gap now wipes out their game in hand nicely and we're also beginning to claw back the GD too, only 4 goals off them now. Our remaining fixture list is also a good chunk better than theirs. As for our head to head with them, we're up for it, ideally we want to do the double over them this year in the whole "parachute club my ar$e" vein. True, they could beat us, they're at home, but unlike our game against yourselves we have no fear of them whatsoever.

True, we could have done without Hull & Millwall winning, but Ipswich are still the main threat in our eyes.

Promotion is everything. As for the title, not many of us could actually give a monkeys.

Seems as though Smellball is working out for you after all!

I’d gladly snap your hand off for 2nd, but 1st is also acceptable.

Playing for 2nd or do you mean as long as we’re top 2.

I mean, I’ve said recently I think Ipswich will win the league but they lost today and we can go 11 clear of them if we win Monday. I’m not so sure now.
Honestly didn’t get the Ipswich love in, seems like some were just waiting for them to catch us, they had to be 100% just to get within 8 points of us, and apart from the 2 games against us they’re nothing special as they showed today

Went to Utd Ipswich game (got given corporate tickets).

Ipswich awful but Sheffield Utd played well.

Great result for us.

Hamer did his usual 60 min cameo but played well.

He’ll always be a great option for us but his injury record and inability to last out a full game is really not want we want from a midfielder.

Just look how important beating Boro away was! If we had lost, we would now be second, allbeit with a game in hand
Think it will be crucial to beat them again.

Great result for us. Sheffield United have done us a massive favour there. Beat Norwich and we can afford to drop points v QPR. Both are very tough games though, 2 of the next 3 following that are very winnable too and if we can stop Middlesbrough from winning, we are pritty much home and dry with 12 games or so left.

The way I see it, we are playing for 2nd right now. I just really, truly hope we don’t fall away and end up in the playoffs, it’d be disastrous.

Ipswich or ‘Boro are not going to let up, and unless we dig in and rediscover that dazzling form, 1st is a pipe dream and 2nd is unrealistic. The pack will be closing in, but onwards and upwards.
Ipswich just lost today ? 18 left and we have a 3 game head start

Playing for 2nd when we're *checks notes* 1st... high high level drivel.

I’m sure you’re a nice guy but can you be a bit more concise or at least do a tl;dr

look at other boards, Lesta, QPR and Ipswich and they all have the same meltdown as we do on here after a loss. Lesta is particularly sweet as they all want Marti out asap.

Ipswich need nearly half a point per game more than us. That's massive over 18 games. And to add to that we're nearly at full strength with additions to our squad and as we don't have to play them again there's no dodgy game where we sh1t ourselves.

PUSB looking good again.

To my mind, we are simply playing for promotion. Doesn't matter if it's 1st or 2nd.

Just need to be in that top 2 at the end of the season, so we are in the Premier next year.

Ipswich losing is bigger than a Boro result.

No offence to the tame smoggies that have started posting but Boro are more likely to slip up in games than Ipswich.
I’m not sure it’s about that or even if that’s true. I think it’s more about being pragmatic ie the team in 3rd fucked up today…so regardless of Mondays result we’re one step closer.
Win on Monday and that step will be a very big one.
