They're better than us in a head to head because our way of playing plays right into theirs. But over 28 games we have been the better side, including a poor start from them and a poor run of games when most of our squad was ill.If we are serious about getting promoted in the Automatics then we have to beat Boro. We have lost twice to Ipswich and they definately have the psychological edge over us and will probably win the league. They are better than us there is no denying that.
Agree with the first bit. I think they were playing badly at the start of the season, they have clicked in to gear now and i cant see them loosing more than a couple of games their squad is very strong and big. They're better than us in a head to head because our way of playing plays right into theirs. Let's see how they get on when every game isn't at home. Saturday's game will be their first away game this month.Agree with the first bit. And presuming it would matter would mean they would definitely go ahead of usSomething no one else seems to have mentioned either is that our goal difference whilst still excellent has really been reduced by Ipswich who now seem to be scoring two or three every game whilst we are either drawing or winning by the odd goal.
on boxing day our goal difference was +16 over Ipswich our nearest gd rival.
Its now down to +7
Yes I thought this also. If Middlesboro power to title, then our assumed total supremacy on goal difference is under threat if us and Ipswich are level on points.Something no one else seems to have mentioned either is that our goal difference whilst still excellent has really been reduced by Ipswich who now seem to be scoring two or three every game whilst we are either drawing or winning by the odd goal.

It’s in the DNA of many City fans. It stifles us to a certain extent but we know the drill.Pressure is well and truly on us I believe, its ours to lose no game in this league is a given.Norwich playing well Oxford fighting for their lives.I won't believe we are up until no one can catch us until then it will be a very nervy 16 games.
Away with you…That’s taking it too far.I think we'll finish 3rd and lose to Wrexham in the playoff semis
I commend you on your restrained response.Away with you…That’s taking it too far.![]()
They need 2 more wins than us regardless of how many we get. I know it’s obvious but every win we have shifts the pressure on to them. They have to keep winning.Middlesbrough and Ipswich are on good runs and only 5/6 points away from us so I think we may need 10 wins. As people have pointed out we should be picking up at least 6 from our remaining home fixtures and that’s being conservative. If we can pick up our away form again then should be fine.
Norwich and QPR going to be interesting off the back of 2 good home wins
Very true. I think to myself "am I just being a pessimist" when I feel we will throw it all away - then I think "no I'm just a Coventry Fan for the last 40 years" and realize it's all part of the packageIt’s in the DNA of many City fans. It stifles us to a certain extent but we know the drill.
I think Ipswich are in their run that we had at the start of the seasonPessimistic in me still has us picking up 30 points and hoping that Boro/Ipswich don't have a run like we had before.
Win at Norwich and the positivity measure goes off the scale and its a done deal![]()

Disagree - Players definitely feel the pressure, remember one season Leeds were all but there and they played Wigan at home knowing a win would all but do them and they lost to 10 men and the following game and fumbled itPlayers don't approach games like that. They prepare and just go out and do a job. They don't think in terms of must win games like fans. The only time they think like that is the last few games of the season. At this stage of the season they are in a play to the best of our ability and accumulate points mode. If they drop points they don't dwell on it like fans. They move on, reset and think about the next game.
Fans create their own pressure.
Would be nice to be promoted that home game, but expecting it to be done by then.I think 10 wins. 16 games from now we will wrap it up, and we'll win most of our home games to get there.
We'll then go on to lose to Wrexham, because they're the jammiest most cunty club in the league.
I take a must win every game approach. I have no doubt that city and other team’s players are the same. I have no doubt it is better to get points in the bad rather than settle for draws.Players don't approach games like that. They prepare and just go out and do a job. Thats the spirit. Might as well add that Sheaf gets their winning goal as well with a 25 yard screamer instead of hitting row zI think we'll finish 3rd and lose to Wrexham in the playoff semis

For us to finish out of the top 2 they would both need to go on a great run. I can see it from Ipswich but Middlesbrough are scraping many of their wins with luck.Pessimistic in me still has us picking up 30 points and hoping that Boro/Ipswich don't have a run like we had before.

Settle for 2nd? That would be an absolutely incredible achievement. For us to finish out of the top 2 they would both need to go on a great run. I can see it from Ipswich but Middlesbrough are scraping many of their wins with luck.
We don't need to win the Championship title. It would be great but promotion is more important. I'd settle for 2nd now.
You wouldn't think that from reading comments on hereSettle for 2nd? That would be an absolutely incredible achievement.
Long way to go. As for 'settling', I would settle for a NON loss v Middlesbrough.
